The newest skincare collection from Estee Lauder is called Enlighten. It’s a skintone correcting collection that consists of a cream for day and night, a serum for night time use and for day an EE cream that contains SPF 30.
A major skin issue that women have is discoloration from too much time in the sun and other environmental factors. It can show up on our faces as the dreaded “age spots” or more aptly to be called sun spots, dull skin and overall blotchiness across the face, neck and decollete. One way to remove such spots is by laser, or prescription medication that can only be used for a short period of time. Skincare advances have helped along the process of lightening and evening skin tones to show less of this damage that has been done over the years.
I’ve been using this new Enlighten by Estee Lauder line for just a few short weeks now and I met up with someone I haven’t seen in a few years. She was raving about my skin and how good it looked and well, while I don’t notice a major difference in my skin a few things she mentioned that I have noticed over time – my pores are less visible and some of the sun damage I had on my one cheek area is visibly less noticeable.
The Enlighten cream can be used day and night and I found it to be adequately hydrating – meaning not too heavy or too light of a moisturizer. It contains a natural complex of lentil fruit, watermelon and apple to retain continuous moisture and the Estee Lauder Repair Optimizing Technology as they call it – to help skin maintain it’s natural repair processes – which we know over time become less able to do on its own due to again, and environmental assaults on the skin.
At night time only the Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum is to be used. Their studies show that this is so powerful that there is a significant reduction in the look of spots that begins in less than two weeks. The serum contains an anti-spot and anti-irritant duo, an enzyme to work on the skin’s surface to dissolve the look of existing dark pots and plum blossom extract that works within the skin’s surface to resist excess pigmentation and from new spots forming. One thing I did notice when I first applied this serum is that my skin felt immediately different. It’s difficult to explain, but it felt like I had something on my skin that was working – not just sitting on my face. If someone has really sensitive skin, and I consider myself to have fairly sensitive skin, this may be somewhat irritating as it is strong.
When using skin lightening products it’s extremely important to protect your skin. These types of products can make the skin more sensitive and well, you’re doing all this work to improve your skin from spots and discoloration you want to do all you can to prevent future damage. That’s where the Enlighten Even Effect Skintone Corrector SPF30 comes in. It’s not just an SPF but it helps to even out skintone and make the skin look more radiant. It contains ingredients that soothe the skin and it comes in 3 tones – light, medium and dark with a blend of optics that give radiance to the skin. The shade shown above is light and works great with my skin color. I like that this is lightweight and doesn’t feel like a typical SPF going on the face and it’s a great makeup prep, too!
Overall, I really like this new line of skincare by Estee Lauder, which will begin appearing in stores this October.
