and a healthy smile too.

FlexCare

We all know that healthy teeth and gums are so important.  A white, fresh smile also makes you look younger too.  So when Philips Sonicare contacted me and asked me to “take the challenge”, I was up for it.

My dentist has been after me for years to get a Sonicare.  I brush too harshly and it’s caused some gum issues for me.   My kids have used Sonicare for years, but I have never gotten one for myself.

This Philips Sonicare FlexCare+ with sanitizer is much more advanced than the old one my boys have been using.   It has a slimmer handle and five setting options that adjust the power mode for sensitive gums, regular cleaning, refreshing, sensitive teeth and massage.  I really love how clean it makes my teeth feel – incredible!

Probably the thing I had to adjust to most was the length of time it runs.   2 minutes – which doesn’t seem long, and I thought I brushed my teeth for a long time with a  manual toothbrush, but apparently not.   It beeps you to inform you when to move to another area in your mouth – and since I can be a dork about some things, the beep is helpful.

This particular model comes with 2 brush head choices – one is more oval shaped and the other is more round.   A travel case comes with it and the sanitizer as well – which it has always grossed me out to think about what the hell is really on  your toothbrush that doesn’t get rinsed off.  Heebeegeebee, I can’t go there!  With this, all you do is place the head in the sanitizer and close the door and start it up.   Silently and about 10 minutes later it’s done sanitizing and bacteria is gone.

I recently went away for a weekend and for some reason just grabbed the old manual toothbrush to take with me.   I seriously hated it!   Not only did it feel big and bulky, but my teeth didn’t feel as clean either.  I couldn’t wait to get back home and brush my teeth with the Sonicare.

Did switching over make my teeth whiter?   That’s honestly difficult to say – maybe if I had a chart to compare, but my teeth feel cleaner, fresher and my gums aren’t as irritated either. I’m anxious to see if my dentist has noticed a difference when I return in a month.

I took the challenge and I’m convinced the Philips Sonicare made a world of difference.   I should have listened to my dentist years ago!
