For the lips dark berries, plums, rich reds are all the rage this fall. But for some women who are over 40 they like the look, but feel the colors are too dark to pull off and might end up looking not right. That’s when Fab Over Forty decided to go to the expert and get advice on how women over 40 can wear a dark lip shade this fall and still look good wearing it.
Sandy Linter has been a makeup artist for years and has done makeup on everyone from the young girl just starting out with makeup to celebrities, fashion and photo shoots, and for every aged woman. She knows what works. She even wrote a book on it! Sandy is also Lancome’s Beauty at Every Age Makeup Artist. Here’s her advice on how to wear the dark lip shades for fall
If you want to go darker look at a sheer darker shade. L’Absolu Nu by Lancôme has sheer shades that are red, plum and berry shades. You can be fashion forward and ageless looking by using a deeper sheer shade.
After applying the shade then use a lip pencil to softly line the lips. You can use a nude pencil rather than matching shade. When you line the lips and do the cupids bow, make sure it is rounded rather than pointed and separated which can be aging.
Thanks Sandy, for taking the fear out of wearing a dark lip for fall and helping women over 40 be fashion forward, too!
