***Update – Unfortunately American Laser Skincare has closed down without any notice, leaving many customers unhappy and out funds – including myself.

A few weeks back I mentioned that American Laser Skincare was having an Open House and had a lot of specials going on and some free treatments to try out. I attended the open house with the intention of having a sample skin tightening procedure done. I hate that sagginess around the jawline and wanted to test this out to see if it would help. But, because I have a tooth implant with titanium they couldn’t do the procedure. Something to do with heat transfer and the potential for the tooth to become more than a bit uncomfortably hot. So check that off the list.  They asked me if there was anything else I was interested in doing. YES! Laser hair removal on my upper lip and chin.  It’s nothing glamorous, nothing to make me look younger or anything like that. But I am fair skinned and have had dark facial hair on my upper lip and chin for years, which makes me a perfect candidate for laser hair removal. It’s annoying and unattractive and I had gotten to the point where I was shaving it several times a week.

I then had a complimentary treatment and signed up for the series of treatments, which can take anywhere typically from 6-8 treatments. I’ve had laser treatments for broken capillaries and wasn’t sure how this would differ. Well, it was easier than I thought! They use the Gentlemax Pro® form of hair removal and it’s a tip that’s about the size of a nickel, not a pin-point tip. It “zaps” and shoots cool at the same time so the typical hot sensation that is involved with laser hair removal is lessened because of the quick shot of cool. In fact at the first zap she asked me how that felt and I said “that was it?”  It was barely noticeable. My lip area took about only 5 zaps and same with the chin and what a noticeable difference! I am waiting till my next appointment in December – they schedule them several months apart to allow for the hair growth cycle time, but in the meantime I have not had to shave that area at all! There has been one or two hairs sprout up, but easily removed and barely noticeable at all.  I am beyond thrilled and wonder why I didn’t do this years ago!
