It's funny because I'm the other way round. I was using Luminous silk 4.5, but decided to give the Shaping Cream a go. Yes the texture is as nice, but I just find that it doesn't stay on that long and the pot is quite messy, compared to a pump dispenser. It's more fiddly and you end up with spare foundation on your fingers when trying to put the little black inner lid back on before the main lid. So I've just bought a bottle Luminous Silk as it's just simpler and cleaner (even though I have lots of the Shaping one left). On saying that, I have to say all the Armani Foundations are great and feel good on the skin. I always return to them even if I take a break from them.

I started with the Designer Shaping Cream and loved it - I have very dry skin. It was too moisturizing for me in the summer so I added the Luminous Silk for the summer. It is lighter so it works for me. Overall GA is my favorite for foundations.

I love the comparison post! There IS something for everybody! I have not yet ventured into Armani foundation territory but I think you have me curious about the compact powder version. I like light coverage for my oily skin so this could work! The Face Fabric also sounds interesting but that smooth finish sounds like it could have silicones...zit o rama for me. Will have to test!

I would go to the counter and ask for a sample, you may really like it with dry skin - I know I do!

Nice post Kari! Now of course I am dying to try the Designer Shaping Cream foundation.

I cant tell if it is due to another Birthday or simply the cold weather, but for the first time, I do think I need a foundation for dry skin.

I love Luminois Silk and have not had any problem with it settling into lines or slip-sliding away. But then, no foundation is going to be all things to all people. The condition of our complexion and the types of products we use on it will have a dramatic effect on how a particular foundation wears. Also, there are times when no matter how much we may like a particular foundation's appearance or formulation, the particular brand just doesn't make a color that suits. It's a wise and honest SA/MA who will admit it when the color is off and steer us towards another brand that will be more compatible with our skin tone. It sounds like Armani Luminois Silk is simply not for you :-(

Thank you for posting this as I purchased the Luminous Silk Foundation a couple of months ago. On my 3rd outing, I had the same experience you did - after one hour, sinking into lines and sliding off the face! I don't have particularly dry skin but I still have an oily tzone in my mid 40s. I'm terribly disappointed!

Katie, I haven't tried Guerlain's Lingerie foundation. I have been curious though, so I will have to check it out - you've reminded me to go do that soon!
