As you can probably guess by now, Dana and I have a thing for brows. At least I know I do for sure. In my youth my brows were so full and thick that Brooke Shields’ brows had nothing on mine, and in the modern day, Cara Delevingne either. Friends who didn’t know me in my youth think “sure she did” until I show them old photos and they gasp with the reality of what my brows really did look like. Fast forward several years and my eyes and brows are still my prominent feature, only my brows have lost their intensity – meaning they aren’t as thick and dense as they used to be. Ahhh aging. My mantra should be “Women over 40, do something with your brows!”
So you can imagine that I’ve tried many, many brow products out there – some are just OK, some get the job done and some are standouts. Well, the new Shaping Eyebrow Pencil from Dolce&Gabbana is one of the standouts for me. I’ve tried, Tarte, Dior, Hourglass, Sensai, Lancome, oh I forget it’s been so many, but I am truly loving this one by Dolce&Gabbana and there are a few reasons why. First of all the unit itself is made well. I’ve had some where I like the product, but then the case literally fell apart making it unusable. But I also really like this because of the texture. It’s like a gel powder so it’s creamy at application and looks natural and not harsh, but it’s also water and smudge resistant so the color lasts up to 12 hours! The retractable pen-like shaper is tapered on the end so you can use it in fine, thin strokes or thicker ones and the other end of the shaper is a spooly so it blends all in and looks natural.
The color shown above is Mocha, the deepest of the four shades. I have fairly dark brows and Chestnut is my shade to use. The other shades are Stromboli and Soft Brown. The Dolce&Gabbana Shaping Eyebrow Pencil retails at Saks Fifth Avenue for $45 and worth every single penny. You’ll quickly become a brow expert in no time!
Oooh, looks great. I’m currently using High Definition Brows’ ‘Foxy’ Palette, but will definitely bear this D&G one in mind for future reference (presumably I can get it here in the UK?)
PS: Loving your blog… I’ve found it so difficult to track down fellow over 40 bloggers!
The Vino Years
Great brows are one of those little things that keep us looking younger…and a great way to shape and color those brows is so important.
I enjoy being on Fashion Flash with you!!
I find eyebrows the most difficult part of make-up to get right. Might try this one.
