For the holidays, Hourglass took their newer Ambient powders (released in January of this year) and created this trio compact, Ambient Lighting Palette, along with a mini face primer as a Holiday Limited Edition.  When I first tried one of these powders I fell in love with it.  In the regular collection there are 6 individual powders and for the holidays this palette includes 2 existing shades and one limited edition shade.

On the left is Dim Light, center is a new limited edition shade called Incandescent Light and the far right is Radiant Light.  These shades work for both cool and warm tones and the Dim light is the least shimmery of the three. Radiant Light is the warmest toned shimmer with golden flecks and Incandescent is more pearlized shimmer. So why is this so special? Well, for several reasons. One being as we age we lose that “glow” or luminosity our skin had in our youth so we need to add it back in. Powders are one great way to fake that luminous skin.  I also like the options the three shades give you and the Hourglass Makeup Artist Moani Lee offers these tips on how to wear the powders:

“Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette infuses skin with a multi-dimensional luminescence that’s perfect for the party season. Using the Hourglass Ambient Powder Brush, dust Dim Light all over the complexion but focus on the center of the face to soften imperfections. Follow by adding Radiant Light as a contour under the cheekbones, on the temples and on either side of the bridge of the nose to add a subtle warmth. Finish off with a light dusting of Incandescent Light on the tops of the cheekbones, under the brow, on the center of the eyelids, the bridge of the nose and the cupid’s bow to brighten the complexion and create a celestial glow. For deeper skin tones, it’s best to test the product on your skin and make adjustments by mixing Radiant Light to add warmth.”
