2015

What??? 2015!!! 2014 went by in the blink of an eye and while everyone is probably working on their resolutions for the year, I happily never use the word resolution. It just feels so negative and like something I’ve done wrong needs fixing or replacing and I don’t like to think of life in those measures, especially when starting out something new. Instead I like to have goals for the year, it seems less harsh and something good to aspire towards.

A few years back I decided I wasn’t having enough fun in my life so that was my goal.  A friend recently asked me what what my goal was this year because she well remembers me getting the fun train, as she called it. And it was the most fun I had in years! I reconnected with old friends having a blast and people started to see the real me that had been suppressed for a long, long time.  The next year I had a health goal. Losing weight wasn’t the main goal, but I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and needed to gain control of my health. Losing weight came along as a bonus to getting my health back on track. I’m more informed and better educated about my health and fitness. Then came last year and I was in a personal state that I didn’t enjoy being in and I never really set a goal and if I did I forget what it was because of so many major life changes going on I had a hard time focusing. And unfortunately the fun and health started to take a back seat.  That’s all about to change!

Now for the last several weeks I’ve been trying to think of what my goal will be for 2015. I still need to continue with the fun train and the health goals as those are things we should never forget and can always learn from. But then I was recently reading something someone wrote about their intentions during yoga class.  She said strength. That was my “aha” moment of what my goal will be for 2015.  STRENGTH. It really encompasses so many different things that it fit me perfectly.  I want to find strength in my fitness ability – can I finally get past that 25 push up goal? Can I work through my knee injury and find strength in that again? And then there’s strength in my work. Getting through client demands and deadlines and knowing you are the one they rely on and you have to have the strength because you really don’t have anyone else to rely on for that.  You can do it, Kari! And most of all I need to find strength in my faith. I’ve always had faith – faith in God, faith in others and faith in myself. But if I can build strength in my faith I know that the rest will fall in place and 2015 will be a fabulous year!
