Not all brushes are created equal. First off, I know we all hear so much about boar bristle brushes and how great they are for your hair, but when I noticed that my stylist never used one on my hair I asked Charlie why. He said that because my hair is fine that it’s more difficult for it to hold a style, so thermal brushes work to heat the curl and help to hold the curl longer, which plain bristle boar brushes can’t do.
So, are all thermal brushes created equally as well? No.When I was asked to try the Olivia Garden Nanothermic Contour brush I originally wondered could it be much different than the one I am already using? Absolutely. First off, the barrel is contoured so you get the bristles closer to the scalp, which in turn helps give your hair the lift near the roots that we all desire. The bristles also have a wave to them which makes the bristles more gentle on the hair. The vents are larger than many other brand’s brushes, which allows for faster drying time. It’s also made with tourmaline ion technology which helps the hair with less static, more shine and less frizz and fly-aways, which are always an issue of mine.
Here’s an example of how my hair looks about 5 hours after blowing it out using the Olivia Garden brush. The barrels come in a variety of sizes and I have the 2″. I get a nice soft wave to it and it holds throughout the day. I like this brush so much that I’m getting a second one to keep in my gym bag. The brushes are available at Ulta stores.
