After receiving so many “Get the Look” emails from all the recent red carpet award shows, I was tempted to cut my hair.  The bob is in.  Does it really ever go out?  No, but something about this looks fresher. The lines aren’t as harsh or severely cut at the bottom like previously.  There’s a deep side part and sometimes some curl with it making it look new again.

Last month when I went to my stylist for a cut suddenly that day I had the urge to cut my hair, but I was sure I was going to chicken out and instead of actually getting it cut then, I would talk about it with Charlie this time and then probably get it cut shorter next time. Well, he took one look at me and said he wanted to do something new on me and proceeded to show me photos of cuts that I had just received in emails as well.  We were on the same page.  So chop, chop – off went about 4″-5″.  He still left it long enough for me to put into a small pony tail for when I am working out, but I love it! It can be worn in so many ways, and I’ve received countless compliments, so I know the right decision was made.   When coworkers say things like va-va-voom, or you look 10 years younger or your cut looks so sophisticated, I’m glad I didn’t sit and ponder for a few months.  Besides, it’s only hair and it will always grow.

Kari haircut before and after

Here’s my before from November and my after in January.  When I wear it smoothed out like this I still need to give my hair volume, so I like to use Living Proof PHD 5 in 1 for styling my hair.  Just about a pea size amount is applied to damp hair and it smooths fly-aways yet adds volume. It really helps to give it a sleek styled look without weighing down my hair.

When I want to use a little bit of curl to the style like Sienna Miller or Emma Stone above, then I first style it like I have shown then I use my Sultra Curling Rod to get loose waves throughout. Or if I want to go all-out curly, I put in a little bit of Oribe Curly Mousse and use a diffuser to style. That really brings out my natural curls.  It’s such a versatile style!
