Congratulations #36 was chosen by Random.org. Janice is the winner!
What do you do for your part on Earth Day? How about checking out this charity Justonefrickinday.com It’s Lancome spokeswoman Elettra Wiedemann’s charity. Our generation may not be as familiar with Elettra as we are her mother Isabella Rossellini. Justonefrickinday.com’s mission is to unify and concentrate on available resources to a small number of special charity projects around the world. What they ask is to figure out one day of your pay and contribute that to the organization to make a big difference. Currently they are working on the installation of Solar Electric Panels that will provide sustainable power to a hospital in one of the poorest countries, Burundi.
Lancome, to do their part for the Earth and to celebrate Juicy Tubes 10 year anniversary (Wow! Hard to believe they’ve been around that long!) have created 4 new Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin. I spoke of them a bit the other day when sharing Lancome’s new Summer Collection. This limited edition of Juicy Tubes’ main ingredient is honey, the formula, flavorings and pigments are 100% natural origin and preservative free.
Several designers have gotten together and created limited edition T-shirts for Elettra to champion her cause. Designers like Phillip Lim, Chris Benz, House of Diehl, Rag & Bone, Rogan and Giambattista Valli. If you’re in NY at the Upper West Side Boutique between April 22 -25 and purchase one of these limited edition Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin, you’ll receive a complimentary limited edition T-shirt! And Lancome is making a donation to the Justonefrickinday.com to kick off Earth Day 2010.
Lancome has sent Fabulous Over Forty this Rogan limited edition T-shirt and a Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin in the Blushing Beauty shade to giveaway to one lucky reader! Here’s how you enter for your chance to win: In the comments put your name and what you do for your part to save the Earth. It can be anything from recycling, to purchasing natural products to donating to Earth friendly charities – whatever it is you do for your part, I’d like to hear. Contest ends on April 25th at 11:59 pm CST and the winner will be chosen by Random.org Good luck!

Hats off to Justonefrickinday.com for doing such a great job.
To save the Earth, I avoid using plastic bags, take my own bag to supermarkets…..also, I do recycle all plastic bags that I have/get from any store.
Thanks for the giveaaway!! Happy Earth Day!!

Hi, my name is Kat. I forced myself to stop leaving the tap running when I brush my teeth. It’s not much but every little helps. I also recycle everything that I can and try to buy green options. We also have a car that is kinder to the environment than most and try to only use it when necessary.
Hey adriana here. Wish we could recyle but we have no place to bins and we have to pay too!! Anyway when i was in high schol i took horticulture and of course I planted my fair share of plants and trees. For today i’m starting on a new garden in our front yard and plan to have many bird houses to protect them.
You know if you think about it if everyone planted a tree today that would help the earth out alot…sorry I did alitte ramble
Hey Kari- Happy Earth Day. I recycle, and try to use paper bags. I also fill up my water bottles with tap water.
Love the T-shirt – I always use reusable totes when I go to the store – I won’t let a single plastic bag in my house.
I recycle, try to print less paper, and turn lights off whevever possible.
I would love this shirt!
I work in a science lab and we always make sure our chemicals are disposed of properly…proper chemical disposal is crucial for the environment! Unfortunately, a lot of labs think it’s “okay” to dump stuff down the sink if it’s “just a little”. But just a little adds up!
We just started a recycling program in our county this year and most everyone on our block signed up. My husband and I garden as a hobby…absolutely no pesticides or chemicals, everything is organic. We also enthusiastically support our local health food co-op.
Green is my favorite color!
I walk and bike instead of driving. You’re saving the atmosphere and getting exercise 🙂
I love earth day! I am currently studying to be a geologist because i find earth soso fascinating. Up until a while ago my family bought lots of water bottles, because the city i live in, were not supposed to drink from the sink. recently i suggested that we just buy those refillable water cooler bottles and start using our cooler again. it didnt make sense to be the kind of people that use fabric shopping bags and not care what we disposed of.
I line dry my clothes year round, use fans instead of an air conditioning unit. We switched out our light bulbs and turn of lights when not in use. We try to buy things that have reusable parts and use them till they disintegrate. Thanks for the sweet giveaway. Happy earth day!
Even though I don’t live in a New York type town–I walk every chance I get! For the past two years I’ve longboarded or biked everywhere besides out-of-town trips and groceries. It takes me about 2 months to go through a tank of gas!
I’m Hayley, and what I like to do for my part to help save the earth includes recycling, using natural products, using the lightbulbs that are better for the earth, and biking/walking around more instead of driving.
Recycle bottles whenever i can. When im outside with a bottle i will try and look for a recycling bin and it just never occurred to me to throw it into a regular bin.
We recycle everything we can at home. We are planting a four-in-one apple tree this weekend. Everyone in the family has a reusable water bottle. We take our own cloth grocery bags to the store. We use the Hazardous Waste Disposal drive in our area, so no batteries from our house end up in a landfill. We also favor rechargeable batteries: kids go through a lot of AA batteries.
I’m part of a leadership team that does service projects for our community and school. Since Earth day was today, we made an Earth week for our school. Monday and Tuesday was no idling day, and Wednesday was walk to/from school day, and Thursday we got the lights in our lunch room turned off to save electricity. At home we also recycle everything we can!
Besides taking shorter showers, using reusable shopping bags, and shopping eco-smart companies, I take part in my local beach cleanups. It’s actually quite rewarding to sort out the trash…with gloves and poles of course! I highly recommend it!

Happy Earth Day!! I try to do my part for the Earth by recycling whatever I can (bottles, cans, etc. at home, and using fabric bags when shopping instead of plastic), and every plastic bag is reused for various things — they’re great for lining small garbage bins, for instance. My lightbulbs are mainly the long-lasting “curly” kind. And I belong to a local freecycle group because other people can use the things I no longer need or use… there are many students in my city just starting out on their own so not much goes to waste. 🙂 Thank you for the giveaway!
I’m from Germany and thank God, we seperate our trash (we are actually forced to do so by the government but it’s a very good thing). We also have to recycle our bottles which I also do. And I use my bike instead of driving by bus or car 🙂
Kisses,
Anna
Walk or take public transportation, print on both sides of the paper, turn off the lights when I leave the room and also turn off electric appliances rather than putting them in a sleep mode.
I turn off the light when I’m not in the room and recycle/ compost
I use disposable, recyclable lip wands. They help me keep my makeup sanitary and they are eco-friendly!
Instead of using plastic shower caps to deep condition my hair, I reuse the plastic bags from the grocery store.
I live close to my job and daily errands so I walk or bike to almost all of my trips. I use my own bags when I shop and recycle as much as I can. I only wash my clothes in cold water. I also try and learn one new way to be green per week.
I reuse plastic bags form the grocery store and I recycle.
I use recyclable totes that I bought from costco to bag my groceries instead of the plastic they give at the stores.

maybe all this not so enough but i will try my best to make it better…

Thx…
i use paper bags and i do not use A/C during summer, just the fan
Hey Kari! I constantly turn all the lights off in my house after all the boys that leave them on and we recycle!
I like to keep the curtains open all day and keep as much electricity off as possible. I unplug things when I am not using them, I keep heat/air cond. off as long as I can stand it too…I also try to remember to always use my reusable totes!
I’ve switched all my cleaning products to Eco-friendly products or I make my own using natural products like lemon juice, vinegar, etc. I try to unplug anything that’s not being used and am pretty compulsive about turning lights off. I’ve replaced all the old bulb in my apt to eco bulbs, use reusable bags instead of plastic, recycle as much of anything as I can, and try to be cautious about the products I buy. I try to support eco-friendly brands and companies as much as possible. I failed to get rid of my car =( I tried to find a job where I could take the train every day, but couldn’t make it happen unfortunately. But other than driving to work, I walk or take public transportation otherwise.

I have switched all my light bulbs to incandescent. When out and about, I must use plastic bags to pick up our Guide Dog in-training doggie doo, but I reuse them to pick up more than once. I water plants sparingly on alternate days. I open and close my curtains to keep the warm coming inside during the winter and keep the warm out during the summer. I keep the thermostat set low during the winter and high during the summer. I plan errand day to keep milage down to a minimum…
I use totes while out shopping and I recycle everything I can. My township belongs to Recycle Bank which rewards us with points to purchase goodies.
Hey Kari…. I’m not the best recycler in the world, I will admit. I am working on it though. I recycle all our newspaper, reuse plastic containers and plastic bags. I’m also a freak about turning lights off and electric things such as calculators, computer, etc. when ever I’m done with them. We are also turning all our lights over to energy saving bulbs. We use our horse manure for fertilizer on the garden and yard and our neighbors also “spread the love”. Let’s make Earth Day, Every day!
I was raised in a very “frugal” manner, so conservation & recycling have always been part of my life. While I’m waiting for tap water to get hot, I catch the water in containers & use it for watering plants, feeding dogs, etc.
I recycle everything possible (not a single can or bottle goes into my garbage – it all hits the recycle bin). Additionally, I seize every opportunity to “go green”!!
I have stopped buying plastic water bottles, I got a filter and always fill a reusable bottle for myself, and when I pack a lunch for the hubby.
Also, I only use reusable bags when I go shopping.
These two little things have cut down on the amount of plastic I recycle a lot!
and of course I recycle!
I recycle anything that can be recycled. I always bring my own cloth bags for my groceries and any sort of shopping trips. I collect rainwater to water my plants with and make sure to turn off any lights that are not needed and unplug any appliances that are not being used.
I’m Patrice. I recycle all plastics and cardboard that come into my house. I collect all plastic bottles and soda cans. I use an aluminum bottle or Sigg bottle for my daily water intake.
I always recycle and avoid to use plastic bags.
hello! I’m Valentina. My family and I do a lot of little things: we seperate our trash, we recycle everything (cosmetic jars, bottles, ect…), we use recycled plastic bags at the supermarket… and the list continues! Personally, I haven’t a car so I walk or I use public transport. Let’s save the Earth!!!
Unplug chargers when not in use, turn off water while brushing teeth/washing face (until it’s time to rinse!), use energy-efficient lightbulbs all over my house, turn UP my thermostat during the day when we’re not @ home (in the summer) and turn DOWN the thermostat during the day in the winter… alot of seemingly “little things” can really add up if you’re consistant!
I recycle cans, plastic botles and use the rain water to wash the floor.
Turn off the water when brushing my teeth and not using the plastic bags when shopping!
I always carry a bigger purse or a tote when shopping so that i dont have to use a new plastic bag each time. If we all worked together, one step at a time, we can all help save the earth =)
I recycle plastic, glass and paper and also bring reusable bags to the grocery store. We replaced all the lightbulbs with enery efficient ones right after they first came out. A lot of them are still going strong!
