Ready for a change for Fall 2009? How about this light, freshLaura Mercier Fresco Collection that typically you would think “spring” when you see it. I like that it’s not your expected seasonal collection of dark smoky eyes and dark lips. And look at her beautiful freckles showing through – I love that!

The big draw to the line are the 2 lip palettes. One in Fair Watercolours (left) and the other in Medium Watercolours (right). They each include a lip prep, 6 lip stains and a dual ended brush applicator. The thing that’s so great about lip palettes are the countless color looks you can get when you mix a variety of the shades. $48 each.

For the cheeks try this great Creme Cheek Pot. I love the combination of creme blush for color and a powder blush to top it and soften it out. Hint: That’s also a great way to get your cream blushes to stay put longer. It comes in two shades – Sienna Sunset, a warm tawny rose and Soft Apricot – well the name explains the color. $34.
Now here’s the tough one for me, these Satinee Creme Eye Shadows. The colors for the collection run from Ecru Silk, a soft nude, to Pink Chiffon a light pink to Amber Velvet, a warm terra cotta and Teal Cashmere, a dusty teal.
A couple things about this – personally I have a difficult time with creme eye shadows. It’s not that they look all creasy and gross after a time they can look quite lovely, but to me they seem to take more time to apply correctly and are messier than a powder shadow, which I just don’t have the time to deal with in the long run. I have yet to find a creme shadow that I stick with. How about you?
The other thing is – what is with everything teal this year? I swear it’s everywhere! Does it remind you of 1981 or what? It sure does to me. My work office hallway/public space is in the very outdated teal and I cringe everyday that I have had to look at it for the last 10 years, So maybe that’s why I just can’t wrap my head around the teal shade – it’s all personal to me. And it’s not that I really dislike the color, I’m just really tired of it! But here we are, back into the full swing of teal again.
Now this model looks lovely in the shade – not too overdone. What do you think – wearable for women over 40? Or should we keep it in the closet next to our legwarmers from the 80’s?
