Recently I had the opportunity to try out the HydraFacial at Contour Clinic. Prior to Contour Clinic contacting me, I had not heard of HydraFacial or a few other non-invasive treatments that sounded very intriguing to me which are available at Contour Clinic. Of course, since it is non-invasive I wanted to hear more about it. I’m all for peels, facials and more for making the skin look its best, but wanted to know more about what it can do to make the skin look great. This isn’t a spa facial, but instead a clinical facial using clinical grade ingredients.
Tracey, the aesthetician who did the HydraFacial on me sat down with me beforehand to discuss the benefits and the process of the treatment. The biggest benefit of all is the process of exfoliating and polishing the skin with virtually no down time. It’s not like some chemical peels where your skin peels for days before it looks great. This has immediate results and no skin peeling afterwards, so you can go out that night for a date, or it’s perfect for a pre-wedding or other pre-event to give your skin that youthful glow. Which is why it’s one of the best kept secrets of the stars, they can be red carpet ready the same day.
HydraFacial is a dual action process – it offers deep pore cleansing while delivering hydration to the skin with gentle acid peel compounds and peptides. The facial is a few step process that involves using fine lintel tips on the applicator.
- The first step involves a deep, deep cleanse that draws everything out of the pores. At the end of the whole procedure, Tracey showed me in a vial the exfoliated skin cells (gross I know!) and you could see the black heads and more. It’s fascinating and disgusting all at once! Glucosamine is used in the cleanser which breaks down and loosens dirt, debris and more.
- The second step is the peel. The ampules that are used have a 7.5% Glycolic and 2% Salicylic Acids in them. Salicylic acid works to break down the oils and glycolic “unglues” the cells, as explained to me by Tracey.
- Then with the same tip the extraction is done. No squeezing of skin or painful irritation during the extraction, it’s more like a suctioning of the skin for removal.
- At this point a Dermabuilder can be used as an option. This would have a new lintel tip and contains six different peptides. These work great for plumping the crows feet, upper lip area and forehead. It fills those lines with peptides to plump up and make the skin more youthful looking.
- Then the next step is the hydration. This penetrates the skin to saturation point. Hydration is added to the skin until it beads up – which means it can’t accept any more and the skin is as hydrated and saturated as it can get.
- The last step that Contour Clinic uses at this point is the Omnilux LED panel which stimulates collagen. It’s used on the face for approximately 10 minutes.
I really liked how there was absolutely no discomfort while having the service done and my skin immediately felt firmer, had “the glow” and felt completely moisturized and “fresh” for days. It was so easy, and the whole thing took less than an hour. I would absolutely recommend this and will definitely go back for further HydraFacial treatments.
A special thanks to Contour Clinic of Burnsville for the complimentary treatment. All results and opinions are of Fab Over Forty and your results may vary.
