Trish McEvoy Chic and Sheer Collection is all about creating a look with color, but using sheer colors to get a chic look – hence, Chic & Sheer. You’ve heard me sing the praises of Trish McEvoy’s brilliant packaging with the planners and compacts and I go on and on about her brushes too. I have yet to find a brush of hers that I don’t use on nearly a daily basis and the quality is superior. In fact, I went to Nordstrom three different times to purchase the Fan Brush, and they were always out of it – so I’m not the only one who is a believer in her brushes.
I had purchased a Paula Dorf fan brush on recommendation from someone and I was quite disappointed. It lost its shape right away and really is quite large – difficult to concentrate color in a specific area because of the size. So, I looked at Smashbox fan brush and that was quite small – good for concentrated areas, but when I looked at it, it seemed to lose its shape quite quickly as well so I passed. I am happy to say the Trish McEvoy Fan Brush is like Goldilocks finally getting it “just right”. It’s not too large, nor too small. The bristles are soft, compact and don’t lose their shape. I should have known it would be as good as I imagined. It comes with a plastic sleeve and I actually keep it stored in the sleeve to help maintain the shape. Using this brush is perfect for wiping away any fallen eye shadow color, highlighting the cheekbones and applying the bronzer in the Chic & Sheer look.
This Bronzer in color Golden is perfect for adding warmth to the face if you’re fair skinned or want a hint of color in the winter. I’ll use this in the summer as well since I don’t tan. Use the fan brush in a backwards “C” from the hairline to the apple of the cheek to create a soft sheer veil of color. You won’t look all bronzed up with this technique and brush, but just a healthy, soft glow.
I like how the bronzer fits in this double-decker compact. This can easily fit any great combination of colors – shown here is the French Vanilla shade – great as an all-over shade and Soft Grey looks wonderful in the crease. It leaves a spot open in the compact for a touch-up concealer or a liner shade or any accent shade.
