Ok,Kari,I completely agree with you on Helen Mirren,however:I loved Annette Benning’s dress;I think the problem is,not only is her hair too casual,it’s too dark.

Annette Benning-

I think her skin tone is too pale for the dress. I’m not crazy about the cap sleeves on the dress either. Perhaps if she wore a dress with some color with more going on in the neck area since her hair is short and off of her face.
Maybe, what I’m looking for is a bit more overall softness.

Nicole looks lovely, though yes, a less washed-out color would have been nice (though not chartreuse; after that first iconic look, I don’t think we’ll see her again in chartreuse ever).

You and I are in lockstep! I forgot to include Annette Benning. I agree about this dress but I can’t put my finger on it either. Generally I love Naeem Khan. I don’t think I would even have guessed this was his design. It is matronly and just not pretty. Despite what would have been a double digit price point, it just doesn’t read expensive.

James and Anne just didn’t cut it for me, either. I agree that Cate Blanchett was at her very best!! And like you, didn’t quite find Annette Bening’s look to be….flattering. Sandra Bullock looked sad. But Helen Mirren…perfection!
