Congratulations to Ann S – I’m sure the book will help give you a new look with your new job!
Have you picked up The Makeup Wakeup yet? I told you a few months back that I got a sneak peek of the book by Sandy Linter and Lois Joy Johnson after I ran into Sandy Linter on my flight back from the Redbook MVP testing in NYC. But, I didn’t get my actual hands on MY own book till a few days ago – and I haven’t been able to put it down since!
It’s like having your own personal celebrity makeup artist at your fingertips.
This is a fabulous book on makeup for women over 40! Let’s face it, most all beauty books available are for women in their 20’s or maybe 30’s, but we have different beauty needs than when we were that young. This book gives you tips on what you can do to look fresher, younger without surgery and they also consult two top dermatologists and a cosmetic surgeon for those seeking those options.
You get close-up detailed photos of how to create a look, what tools you need and you are even given a list of specific beauty brands and shades recommended by Sandy. Things are tackled like dark circles, how doing your makeup the same way you did even a few years ago can age you, how to camouflage nasolabial folds or thin lips and so much more. Things that you would never hear a 20 year old worrying about. Women over 40 we’ll claim this as OURS!

Good luck!
My beauty issue is that when I apply my eye make-up it seems like the bone structure of one eye is slightly different to that of the other and I find symmetry so hard to achieve.
I have some acne scarring (I can’t believe I am 38 years old and still breakout)that I would like to fade as well as significant dark circles under the eyes
Acne after 40! Dry skin/fine lines plus zits. Ugh!
I don’t know if this is open to your International readers but I’ll comment anyway.
How to stop undereye concealer from settling in the cracks! I don’t have any crows feet (yet) but it’s those fine lines under the eyes that really get me. I use Bobbi Brown creamy concealer (not the newest version) and even if I put on just a bit it creases. HELP!
Thanks for this post Kari x
My #1 concern is my struggles with concealer–I need to lighten/brighten under my eyes but every concealer looks dry and cakey and settles into fine lines no matter which eye cream I’ve used??!!
My biggest issue ….. crepey neck! Yuck!!
I would love to know how to do my lips so they don’t look so pale and thin, but also don’t look cartoon like and vampy.
I agree with the other posters about concealed settling into lines under my eyes, but have another problem as well. Because of some serious meeds I was on for years, I have dark patches and white spots, and finding a foundation that covers, without looking and feeling like a mask, is impossible!
I need to relearn how to apply powder/foundation as well as eye makeup. Seems that the makeup counters I’ve visited recently (Lancome, Sephora, Ulta), as good as they are, don’t have a lot of advice for the “mature” woman.
Even though I have been applying eyeshadow for years, different MUA’s have tried different methods and styles on me…would love to read Sandy’s tips on eye makeup, as her tips are always spot-on! She is definitely someone in the know…
My issue is my hair. It seems so dry even though I moisturize and deep condition it a lot. I know that’s the normal process of aging, but there MUST be something out there that I haven’t tried yet. Sooo tired of having “straw” on my head :).
Im 48 and have now devoloped blemishes sensitive skin help!!!
Help me cover up the acne marks and all the bluckiness that 45 brought on!!!
My uneven skin tone seems to have me questioning what do I do wrong?!?
If like tips on minimizing the look of huge pores!
I have a round face but I still look drawn! Those nasolabial folds and down lines at the side of my mouth…who is that woman in the mirror?
Wow! Just one beauty issue?…I can think of so many!
I guess I would have to say sensitive skin…one day it is fine, the next I have splotches or some sort of break-out, the next I have flakes…it is never-ending.
I need help with uneven skin tone issues and deep lines 🙁
I use eye cream to soften the lines under my eyes but that just makes my liner and mascara smear – any tips on how to make my make-up “stay put” when I use lotions for my wrinkles?
large pores, flakey skin, uneaven skin tone – My skin has changed so much in just the last year. I have no clue how to address and conceal these issues I’ve never had before?
I’m struggling with oily skin and fine lines. Need a foundation that won’t separate during the day on my oily skin, helps conceal enlarged pores and doesn’t settle in my fine lines.
I have some light sunspots I would like to get rid of or lighten more. 🙂

My beauty issue is that I still do my makeup the same way for the last ten years. I need help updating my look.
I would like to know how to camouflage deep lines and enlarged pores. Thanks for the opportunity to win this,Kari!
I am looking to minimize the effect of the nasolabial lines, and also puffiness both above and below the eyes. Thanks for having the giveaway Kari!
I would definitely need help reducing the blemishes caused by acne 🙁
Also, help with under eye circles would be great
I looked in the mirror one day–and my pores were HUGE!!
I don’t remember them being quite so visible before.
Thanks so much for your blog.
I have issues with my under eye area. I have always had dark circles under my eyes but they are getting much worse. And now wrinkles are forming in my eye area as well…
Finding the best concealer and the application for dark circles under my eyes.
Like a lot of other women, I would like to know how to keep concealer from looking dry and cakey and settling into fine lines, and how I can get it to actually conceal undereye circles instead of highlighting them.
Also, I would like to know of a good foundation to use, or a tinted moisturizer. The tinted moisturizer I currently have is too dark for my skin tone, and it doesn’t provide good coverage.
I have a problem with undereye darkness. I have tried many products, and am still on the look out for my miracle cure.
I need help with concealer issues! Either they don’t cover the darkness or they sink into the lines and emphasize them! I have just about given up! Thanks for the giveaway!
My two biggest age-related beauty problems are sun damage and under-eye circles. I would love to hear some new tips on managing those!
I’ve searched since my teen years for the right color foundation, as I have a yellow undertone, along with dark undereye circles since birth! Now, at 61, I feel the mineral makeup is too drying, highlights pores and fine lines, though I found good colors. I am using tinted moisturizer now, instead of foundation. I’m still looking for the right undereye concealer and what blush (cream or powder) to use. I also find that I need paler lips/lipliners and more brow definition with age. Can we address all these issues? Thanks for the chance to win, Kari – great blog!
I seemed to have developed menopausal acne. Help!

My biggest beauty issue is how to do subtle contouring to thin the face/hide a little bit of a double chin (I’ve had this even when I was very thin!) Also, how best to have a natural looking brow when your brows have basically faded away over time (pencil, powder, stencil?? oh my! haha) Any tips are very much appreciated.
44… I just turned 44 a few days ago and my eyes are telling everyone!! I can’t seem to find a way to cover the dark circles without making the crows feet stand out and the droop, don’t get me started on the lid droop… HELP!!
I suppose the most obvious issue for me is how to apply foundation so it doesnt look cakey. I love the look of tinted moisturizer but I need to use a long wearing foundation on work days and it always ends up looking cakey regardless of how little foundation and powder I use. I want my skin to look like skin 🙁
Donna
My issue is with foundation. I’m oily and need coverage too. I need help finding the correct foundation & techniques 🙂
I’d like to know about caring for skin that is both aging and still acne prone.
Firming up my neck
Adult acne, under eye circles and I have not learned how to apply makeup. My 11 year old probably knows more about makeup than I do.
I would like to read this book to learn how to control the look of my large pores around my nose. I also have crows feet that also need to be hidden with makeup the best they can.
At 57, none of my makeup works the same as it did when I was younger. I need a complete overhaul and advice on new shades and application techniques.
I would like to find something to lighten age spots.
Got any suggestions on how to look 22 instead of 42???? He He. Thanks for this awesome give-a-way, good luck to all!
My problems: ruddy, uneven toned skin, large pores, pitted scars (from cellulitis, not acne), and dark circles under eyes. I have not yet figured out how to fix any of this!
My problem areas are eye brow maintenance and I work SO HARD to line my upper lash line.. I love that look but it takes me a so so long to achieve it! Wish I could learn to do it faster and I want to try LIQUID LINER…but don’t have the balls to.
I need to figure out how to lighten my under eye circles (which are quite dark) without exacerbating the fine lines under my eyes.
I would like to know how to create an eye look for my deep set eyes/bone structure that does not look like I just returned from a gym, i.e., I’m looking for something more glam and pumped up!
I am 54 and my skin is very smooth for my age. I am having problems with under my eyes. The skin under my eyes has become very “crepe-y”. I would really love to know how to achieve a smoother look.
My face shape has changed over the years & even though I continue to try contouring & bronzing, I’m still not getting the natural looking effect I want. I feel I’m putting makeup on a person I’m not familiar with…
For me it is dry skin and a crepey neck.Ugh!
Eyelids that seem to have found gravity – new makeup ideas for a 59 year old.
The skin over my eyes droops and you can’t see my eyelids anymore. I’d like to know how to bring my eyes out of hiding.
I never realized how quickly age 42 would creep up on me! I can’t seem to get rid of the crepey look and dark circles under my eyes!
My two biggest challenges is a soft jawline and eye depressions that add dark circles under my eyes. I look in the mirror and see my grandmother. Lovely at 80, but not for 40 somethings.
I am 45 and my eyes are my major concern. I would like to learn how to open them up. The droopiness has just kind of sneaked up on me. I want to wear all of the great spring colors but I just can’t seem to make them look right.
My problem is that I have sunspots on my face. I would like a clearer complexion.
For me, its all about the jowls. Oh – if only there is something I can do to minimize their droopy loook, ecause everything else looks pretty good!
I would give anything to learn a tip/trick to help minimize the look of undereye bags!!!!!!
My neck needs lots of help!
As I get older, my dark circles seem to get worse–even with enough sleep and drinking enough water. I would love some tips on how to deal with dark circles!
I need help with my eyes. I am creeping closer to 50, and my eyes are puffy now every morning, and long into the day. The upper eyelid area under the brow and next to the side of the nose is particularly problematic.
Hi! i have the problem of aging skin plus hormonal acne. I will be 50 in November! I really do not look my age but I am starting to have conflict between too much moisture and not enough. Menopause! YIKES! Thank you!
I have pretty good skin for 47 but would love to learn how to camouflage those dreaded liplines that make my lipstick bleed and lips in general look smaller. Never smoked but my Dad has them and I think they’re hereditary. Thanks.
Just turned 50 last New Years Eve. The 40’s SUCKED (breast cancer, loss of job general ickyness). I start a new job on May 2 and would love to have a new look to go with my new and improved decade!
I would like to lighten the small sun/age spots that keep popping up.
I want my skin to glow.
I would love to win! My problem area is under the eyes. How do you tighten it without getting surgery?
Turned 50 two years ago and am feeling great… would love for my face to reflect that! My few freckles look like age spots, I look tired when I’m not, and am unimaginative about make-up! Help!
The drooping eyelid area, and the soft/sagging jowls.. i’m 47, feel 30, but feel I look 57! Help!
