Call it plum, aubergine, mulberry or any variation on the theme, it’s my fall makeup shade this year. The trick with us fair-skinned gals is that too dark on the face and it looks deadly and too red looks sickly, so the just right shade takes time to find. A hint of brown in the shade when used around the eyes is a trick that warms it up and keeps you from looking like an allergy sufferer.  Hands are a different matter and those can certainly lean toward a more red shade if you prefer.

Votre Vu French Accents Le Joli Crayon Smudge & Set Soft Eyeliner in Aubergine – the shade has just enough brown in it to make it the perfect liner shade for fall. This new gel pencil works great because it glides on and gives you time to smudge before it sets and stays put. Yes, it really stays put. It has anti-aging fruit extracts and vitamin E so it’s good for you too. It comes in Charbon as well, and I love this new pencil!

Lancome Nail Color #453 from the Midnight Roses collection for fall 2012. This limited edition shade is one of those complimentary worthy shades – it says fall, but not goth and if you’re too shy to do a plum lip, then put it on the hands.

Burberry Eyeshadow in #24 Mulberry – this is from the Burberry Autumn/Winter Collection and while in the pan it looks quite deep and rich in shade, it goes on quite sheer and with quite a bit of brown in the mulberry shade. It also really makes my green eyes pop.

Dior Nail Lacquer in Orchid was a shade I picked up at Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It was an exclusive then and unfortunately no longer available. It’s deeper and darker than the Lancome shade which is a nice alternative. But in the Dior regular line of nail shades the Graphic Berry shade is a lighter alternative or the Purple Revolution is a deeper more mysterious shade.

Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani in shade #605 is my perfect plum lip for fall. Not too dark for my fair skin and it’s ultra creamy and it wears a long time. It’s a plum shade that you can wear and not have it wear you.  Perfection.
