The newest collection from Laura Mercier New Attitude is available now. If a person were to have a new attitude, the change of seasons is a great time to do it! Would you be daring enough to wear a blue shadow like shown above? Personally, I’m not that daring and don’t know if many women over 40 could really pull that off. But the eye shadow quad palettes are quite nice. This collection has two palettes in the baked shadow formula, Summer in St. Tropez, which the model is wearing and the other is Rendezvous in Monte Carlo. I’ll go the Monte Carlo route – at least with these eye palettes, as blues are not my hues.
Now these shades are much more wearable by me! The colors are Tease, Wink, Lust and Flirt and can be used either wet or dry. I don’t know which shade is by the name, but if you’re going to have a rendezvous in Monte Carlo, then those are some fun names! From the top left clockwise is a silver/pink shade that is very high shine and shimmer. Use sparingly, very sparingly – such as maybe in the inner corners of the eyes to brighten them up. The next shade is a pretty rose/bronze with some shimmer, but not nearly as shimmery as the lighter shade. The bottom right is a matte pink that is great for an all-over shade. I put that all over the lid area and up to near the brow and then top the lid area with the rose/bronze shade. The bottom left shade is deceiving. It looks like a deep plum with brown in it in the palette, but when you put it on the plum definitely shows through more than any brown. After using a black or dark brown eye pencil along the top lash line, I have been going over that with this shade to soften the look.
Here are the four shadow shades.
The lip color I chose is Temptation.
Think I’m out of my mind choosing a shade that dark? Well, it’s a trick – it’s really not that dark. The gel formula of this lipstick allows it to go on sheer, but last a long, long time. Here’s what the shade looks like when it’s on my lips.
See how this can fool you? It looks nothing like the shade when just looking at the tube. This is a nice pop of color without screaming COLOR. And I really like the gel texture, too.
Overall, I really like the New Attitude collection. I’ve been wearing it several times a week now and when I was traveling it was the only eye shadows I brought with me – a rarity in itself!
As usual with collections, most of the pieces are limited edition so when they’re gone, they’re gone. There are additional pieces in the collection such as a creme blush, nail polishes and more lip shades. Be sure to check it out soon – it’s at store counters now.
