How apropos that with this being the week of love with Valentine’s Day that the Lancome Spring 2013 Collection is named In Love. The collection is inspired by Lancome ambassadress Emma Watson’s unique vision of love – urban euphoria meets classic romance – a chance to embrace your flirtatious side with bright pastels and color blocked shades of spring.
“What lies at the heart of the In Love Collection is a woman who loves who she is, who knows what is happiness, who embraces a colorful world and who shares her ‘joie de vivre’ with those around her”
One of my favorite pieces in this In Love collection are the Blush In Love blushes. Available in (L-R)Peche Joue-Joue and Pommettes Damour. There are two colors in each one – the main blush shade and in the center is a warmed up shade that adds a touch of bronzer or neutral shade to the blush. Not only that, the floral imprints are slightly shimmered. When the shades and textures are mixed together it creates a beautiful, soft shade for the cheeks. Within the compact is a little pull-out mirror on the side as well, a nice touch. Swatches on the hand show on the top the shades swirled all together, and other three shades show them individually.
When I first saw the lip shades, three of the vibrant shades threw me, thinking that they would be very difficult to wear. I’m happy to say they are fabulous! Baume in Love lip balms are a tinted lip balm, so the color is not intense or a solid lip color, but instead a sheer wash of color that moisturizes the lips for hours. The shades are (L-R) Rose in Love, Coral Electric, Urban Ballet, Midnight Rose and a permanent addition to the line.
Last Fall Lancome introduced the new eye shadow pots Color Design Infinité 24H. High shimmer with a creamy texture, these are long wear shadows that stay put. For the Spring 2013 Collection they’ve added several new shades including above – Persistent Peach, Evermore Lilac, Boundless Blue and Tremendous Turquoise. Two additional shades are Perpetual Pink and Magnetic Teal. For women over 40, this is a nice soft-touch to layer over a matte shade.
Three new Kohl in Love eye liners are available in three new richly pigmented shades. These go on extremely easy, blend out smoothly and stay put. I love these!
The nail shades are in the same range as the lip shades from soft to bright and bold. The Rose Macaron and Peach Melodie (middle shades) make me want to be on a tropical vacation! I think the other two shades, Sugar Rose and Midnight Rose are wearable year around. These are limited edition.
And last but not least, new for Spring 2013 is the Dewy Mist. This beauty water is made from 100% natural ingredients, it gives a natural, dewy finish to the face. It can be used either before or after applying makeup.
Overall, I really like this collection. I will be picky about how/when to wear the eye shadows, but the rest of the collection is fun and a breath of fresh air for spring!
