I’ve been a Venus Divine razor fan for a few years now.   I even forget what I had been using before the Venus came out and was proclaimed as the “must have razor for women”.    It’s done the job for many years without any complaints – other than I do not like the moisture strips they’ve added surrounding the blades.  They just seem to get goopy like silly putty after a few days.

I recently ran out of my King of Shaves shaving lotion (which I LOVE) that gave me the smoothest shave ever.  I didn’t run to the drugstore to get more – it is winter after all, and I figure that my legs aren’t uncovered this time of year anyway, so a SUPER smooth shave can wait till I find the time to get to the drugstore.

In the meantime, I tried out this new razor by Gillette called the Venus Embrace.   Could 5 blades vs 3 really make a big difference?   Absolutely!   With just soap and water (I know, I know!) I “lathered” up my legs and tried out the razor.   Smooth as silk!  Wow – who would have thought that a few extra blades could make that big of a difference?  The way the blades are arranged – they take up about the same exact space as the 3 blade version, giving you a super close shave.  I also like the grip on the handle – more rubber making it less slippery in the shower.

However, here’s my only dis on the razor.   I really dislike how huge the surrounding head of the razor blades is.  It just seems unnecessarily large.  Just look at the comparison – if they could keep the 3 vs 5 blades within the same space, then why did they have to make the surrounding area so large?   I guess the goopy moisture strips are larger and create a larger barrier, but it does make it more difficult to get around the bikini area with the larger razor head.

I definitely like this razor better than the Divine, but if I were to rate it 1-10, I’d give it a 7.5 just because of the large head, instead of the 10 it deserves.  Click here to see what others are saying about it.
