Last month atE!’s Oscar Pre-show there was a Fashion Icon Challenge – this particular look was to re-create old Hollywood glamour, as in Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Sue Devitt was given the challenge to create the look, but in an updated manner.
The key to the look she created was to focus on the complexion and eyebrows – we all know how prominent Audrey Hepburn’s eye brows were. Sue suggests keeping a classic look the focus for any special occasion, not just the Oscars – because let’s face it, we’re Oscar viewers, not attendees!
Here’s how Sue created the modern Audrey look, using the products shown above. The Audrey Hepburn look is actually quite easy to accomplish.
First the complexion – for foundation she used 70% Triple Seaweed Gel Foundation. This is a great foundation for those of us over 40. Its 70% water content leaves the face hydrated which of course means fewer looking wrinkles. This is sheer to medium coverage and is oil free.
She then applied the Triple C-Weed Powder in a light dusting all over the face. I absolutely am in love with this powder. It never looks cakey and it doesn’t settle into my wrinkles. It’s packed with the goodness of Vitamin C, green tea and other powerful antioxidants.
Then she applied the Automatic Camouflage Concealer to cover up any skin imperfections like broken capillaries. Hmm, do I have that in the correct order? Powder and THEN concealer? Yes! This is what Sue Devitt recommends. Use it only where needed and apply lightly to get a natural look.
Keeping the eye simple but detailed, apply a natural eyeshadow base on the lid. Then line the eyes with the Eye Intensifier Pencil. Sue used Pointe Noire a deep black for this look. This is another fabulous product! It’s a chunkier pencil that is super creamy and smooth so it’s easy to apply. There’s no need to worry about making a perfect line because it is a thicker pencil and it has the sponge tip on the other end if you do need to smudge. To define a bit more and create that Audrey detailed cat eye look, apply Lash Line Enhancer, a gel eye liner. The size of this is smaller which makes it so easy to use as it fits in your hand so nicely. Top your lashes with Luxury Lash Intensifier in Black Widow. Use several coats to get a luscious look.
To focus on the eye brows and give them a lift, use a light shadow right under the brow. She used EZ Eye Rollerball Eye shadowin Hydra. When I first saw this silvery shiny shadow, I thought there was no way I could use this. But it rolls on extremely easily and you can take your finger and smooth it out to make it blend in even better. It kind of becomes a highlighter when you do that, rather than screaming ‘silver eyeshadow’!
Line the lips with a natural colored lip pencil and top with a pink gloss like Martha’s Vineyard, shown above. It’s mini sized so it will fit perfectly into the smallest of clutches.
Sue Devitt products are available online, at Barney’s NY and Bloomingdales and various retailers.

I have Sue’s rollerball eye shadows and love them! There’s another Sue Devitt product on my to-buy list, but I won’t mention it. Don’t want to start a stampede. 🙂 Great makeup!
