Chanel Les Beiges is getting rave reviews and recently won a Health Magazine Beauty Award, but I was curious as to what makes this different than any other bronzer, so off to the Nordstrom MOA Chanel counter I went for an explanation from Heather. Is it really different?
First off, there are 7 shades to the new Les Beiges – ranging in shades #10 – #70. I found the stores to only have up to shade #60, but online they show shade #70. Shade #10 is the only one that has mica in it, giving it reflective properties and can be used as a highlighter. If shade #10 were to match your skin, it would be very, very light skin. Les Beiges can be used in a few different ways. Other than shade #10 being a highlighter, find a shade that closely matches your skin tone and it can be used as a powder all over the face. Shade #30 matches my skin tone the best. It’s super silky and fine – lighter than any other powder I’ve used. So if you are going to use it all over the face, don’t expect much coverage or to use this as a foundation. It may work great for a very casual look – giving a hint of color or finish to your skin say for a weekend hanging out look. Now, if you want to use this as a bronzer, naturally you’ll want to go a shade deeper. I would then use shade #40, but you’re not going to get a “heavy” bronzer look because it’s so light weight. It’s going to give the skin a nice glow.
Another thing that’s so exceptional about this is that brush that fits nicely inside the compact actually works for application. The shape works beautifully with the contours of the face. Les Beiges contains SPF 15 so you get some UV protection as well. I like how shade #30 warms up my skin without looking too “bronzy” (is that a word?) but with all traces of summer gone from my skin I tend to be quite pale looking and this does give me that “healthy glow”.

I’m so glad that you explained how this works, Kari. I’ve seen the beautiful ads starring Giselle, and I have wondered, “Powder? Foundation? Bronzer?” But you cleared it up and made shade selection a MUCH easier process! Thx!
Glad to clear it up! I was perplexed at first too
