Some may think that neutrals are boring. I say they are always classic and when done well they are never boring. Burberry Fall 2012 Collection fits into the “always classic and never boring” category. Since the nearest location that sells Burberry is Nordstrom Chicago, I have Todd to thank for helping me edit my purchases in the collection.
For this collection they have three new eye shadows, #23 Dark Sable, #24, Mulberry, #25 Porcelain White. Two new lipsticks include #31 Mocha Glow and #32 Sepia Pink. They have also included a new foundation Velvet Foundation, inspired by the classic Burberry trench coat.
The Dark Sable shadow is a matte deep olive green/brown shadow that when applied light-handed is a beautiful fall shade that can be worn daily. With a heavier hand it looks beautiful along the lash line or in the crease for a smokier eye. Mulberry has a slight (and I do mean slight) shimmer to it and comes across as a more brown mulberry than the image shown above. Both of these shades work beautifully with #04 Golden Trench – a must have in my collection. Personally I wouldn’t necessarily combine the Mulberry and Dark Sable on an eye look, but it could be done. If you want a simple, quick, beautiful classic look then I’d use #04 Golden Trench with either of the new Mulberry or Dark Sable shades.
The two new lipsticks are Mocha Glow (L) and Sepia Pink (R). I have not seen the Mocha Glow in person as from the images I felt it would be too dark brown for my skin tone, but the Sepia Pink was a hit with me. While in person the Sepia Pink looks more brown in the tube than shown here, when applied it’s a gorgeous shade that is a tiny bit more deep than a natural lip. For me it’s a shade that can be worn again and again. If you haven’t tried a Burberry lipstick, I highly recommend them for their creaminess and beautiful feel and look to the lips.
The Velvet Finish Long Wear Foundation was something that also piqued my interest and Todd made that interest even more intensified with his love for it as well. It’s a matte foundation and long-wear, but not your typical dry-pasty matte or long-wear foundation. It’s like a silk velvet foundation, and if you know anything about textiles a silk velvet is impossibly soft and smooth. Well, that’s how this foundation leaves the skin. It’s not heavy at all and it truly leaves the skin flawless looking, matte with a radiance. Now there’s something new. I am one tough person to get a shade to match my skin (ask any artist who has tried to match me – it’s crazy) but #205 shade blended in flawlessly and it disguised the annoying redness I have in my face. This foundation has gone to the top of my list as one of my favorite.
If you want some expert help, Todd is a great source and can be reached at 312.464.1515 ext. 1420. Nordstrom Chicago will be having their Fall Trend Show on Sept. 15th and tickets are $15 that can be applied to beauty purchase. It’s also triple rewards points during that time, so if you are a card holder, be sure to take advantage of it.
Todd also told me that there are 12 new shades of Velvet formula lipsticks coming that should be available by the end of September and for holiday coming in November are 6 new eye shadow palettes with 4 shades in each palette. The palettes are Smoky Grey, Mocha, Dark Spice, Plum Pink, Pink Taupe and Pale Nude. I will share more about these as soon as I receive the info!
