Recently I posted about meeting Carmindy in person at a book signing of her new book Get Positively Beautiful: The Ultimate Guide to Looking and Feeling Gorgeous. Well, she is GORGEOUS and knows how to make women feel the same.
When standing in line for the book signing, all of us admirers were given a few full size samples of her products that she has created for Sally Hansen. I was handed a little round jar in a lavender color and a tube of beautiful lip gloss. Upon first glance at the round jar, I thought “hmmm, slightly unusual color for an eye shadow”. As I walked up to Carmindy, she suggested a few products from her line – one her concealer which she swears by and said she had put hers on in the AM and it was still put at 7:30 PM. The other her foundation, and looked at me and instantly suggested a shade without any kind of testing or matching on my face.
When I got home and inspected my free gifts further, I noticed the lavender pot was not eye shadow after all, but corrective concealer/brightener. With my dark circles I thought I had nothing to lose in giving this a try. When I say the texture of this is like silk velvet, I’m not kidding. I work with fabrics often and it is the softest, dreamiest fabric and this concealer is too. It’s not to dry, too pasty, too thick, too creamy, no caking in the cracks – just perfect! I am now obsessed with Carmindy’s concealer. She told me she put hers on that morning and here at 7:30 PM her face was flawless.
So off I went to Ulta to check out the rest of her line, especially the foundation she recommended and the concealer in light shade as well. I purchased the concealer (I wear the lavender/brightening shade when my circles are prominent and top it with the concealer in light) and wear the concealer daily. Swipe your finger pad over the top and pat this under your eye or any shading on your face.
The Ecru Beige Your Skin Makeup was the shade of foundation that Carmindy recommended. I was hesitant about the shade, but it matches PERFECTLY! The foundation is not super creamy or moisturizing. I would recommend if you have dry skin to make sure that you have a good moisturizer underneath. But it is not drying either – it’s just “your skin”.
Another item the Carmindy had recommended for me to use is her Luminizing Face Primer. I had a small sample of this and tried it, and I have to say it really is giving my old standby Smashbox a run for the money. This primer smooths the skin and gives it a slight glow – not overly luminized or glowy – but a very tasteful look. I did not purchase this on my trip to Ulta, but that’s not to say I won’t when my current primer is gone.
All of the products are paraban free and the prices definitely fit into the Beauty on a Budget mantra. The concealer is $8.99, foundation $12.99, luminizer $9.99, lip gloss $7.99. I highly recommend checking out this very quality line at Ulta. Hopefully it will fit your budget for beauty.
Her face primer beats the 40.00 stuff hands down. It is so good they are always out of stock if you can ever find it. CVS in Atlanta is the only store I have found that has her line. I totally recommend the primer along with the creme blush. I did not like the makeup base, it was a little too waxy for me, too full a coverage for my older dry skin. Anyway, it’s the best face primer I have ever found at any price, especially good for over 50 skin as it makes any foundation look better and smoother. Buy this product!!!!
I adore Carmindy! I bet she is as beautiful as you say. I will check those products out as I have been needing to look a bit more “luminous” myself!
