L'Absolu Velours

The other day when I got my hair colored, Marlee my colorist had the most beautiful matte red lip. She totally rocked it with her simple eye makeup with a slight cat eye.  I wanted to go home and try the look myself.  It was easy with all the options that Lancome has for lipstick. They are brimming with bold lip ideas!  Deep reds, burgundy, dark fuchsia, rich orange, all shades that are incredibly beautiful in color and available in textures that range from very matte to a glossy matte. Wait – is there such a thing as glossy matte?  Well, Lancome one.

L'Avsolu Velours

L’Absolu Velours is great if you want to go with the matte lip trend, but are maybe a bit hesitant to go full-on matte.  This goes on like a gloss, but isn’t as shiny and sticky like glosses can be. It dries to what I might call a semi-matte finish, not as flat as a full-on matte can look.  The shades shown above are #373 Magenta and #172 D’Etincelle

Color Design

If you want to go matte all the way then the Color Design lipsticks are the way to go. These are creamy, but a full-on matte finish to the lips.  It’s the kind of lipstick that reminds me of old Hollywood glamour. rich, full-bodied and sexy.  The shades shown from top to bottom are:  #128 Inconspicuous, #342 Racy, and #338 Seal the Deal.  My favorite shade is actually first tapping on Inconspicuous and then over that tap on Seal the Deal.  It’s a perfect slightly deeper than nude shade that works for my skin tone.  These are really creamy and not drying like a typical matte lipstick.

L'Absolu Rouge Definition

Looking for something a little more full-bodied, then the uber creamy L’Absolu Rouge Definition is the way to go.  They’re matte and have a bit of a cushion to them so they’re very soft on the lips.  L’Absolu formulas have been my favorite formulas for years. Creamy, moisturizing and have staying power.  The shades are from L-R, #195 Le Carmin and #184 Le Vermillon.

Color Design Matte Lip

These Color Design Matte Lip Crayons have me wondering where they have been my whole life and why haven’t I noticed them before. I love these!  Again super, super creamy, but what I like about these is if you like color but are afraid to go bold-on matte these are an excellent option.  Which is me – totally love bold colors, but always afraid to use them.  So how I apply these is put on right from the crayon (no lip liner or lip brush needed) then blot depending on the intensity you like. Leave it somewhat bold or more sheer the more your blot off.  And then the color stays for a long, long time!

Color Design Matte Lip shades

The shades shown here are Only Wine Will Tell and Partner in Crime.

With all these lovely options, what are your thoughts? Are you willing to give a bold matte lip a try?  You might be surprised!

Lancome sent me these lipsticks, but I have been a huge Lancome lipstick fan for years and have owned many of these in different shades.
