Is mineral makeup for you?   I know several of you love it and for you and for those of you who are on the fence about trying mineral makeup, you should consider Alima Pure Mineral Makeup.  Alima Pure is made from the purest form of cosmetic grade mineral pigments and they use no fillers, fragrances or additives which can be irritating to many types of skin.

Alima Pure sent me samples of their Holiday 2010 collection called The Fairy Tale Collection.  The first of The Fairy Tale Collection is shown above and called Once Upon A Time, which contains four shimmery eye shadows.

  • Glass Slipper is the lightest shade in the collection and is a really pretty shade which is difficult to describe.   It’s a very light taupe, yet there’s silver and yet there is a gold tone to it too.  Almost a silvery champagne shade.  This could even be used lightly on the cheeks as a highlighter, too.
  • Spun Gold is the second lightest shade and it’s a shimmery light gold with just a hint of bronze for depth.
  • Enchanted Forrest is a light olive taupe with golden and silver shimmer.
  • Fairy Godmother is a medium to medium/dark muddy purple with silver shimmer.

The shades in this collection are very pretty and very versatile, and so reasonably priced at $25 for the set!   You can create a variety of looks with these shades and the shimmer is not glittery, but a glowy shimmer.

The second set in the Fairy Tale Holiday Collection is called Happily Ever After (shown above)  This set includes a shade that can be used as a liner, a blush which can also be a eye shade and then a highlighter shade.

  • Magic Wand  – This shade is a light silvery cream and is the lightest of the 3 which can be used as a highlighter.
  • Poison Apple – is a rosy brown shimmer that is intended as a blush shade
  • The End – A deep charcoal with silver shimmer to be intended as a liner, but works great for a smoky eye too.

This set too is only $25 for all three pieces.   From each of the collection $2 of the purchase price goes towards the Global Fund for Women.   If shimmer isn’t your thing, but you want to use mineral makeup, Alima Pure does have other finishes as well including satin matte.

The line has a wide range of products including brushes, which using the right brushes is so important, especially with mineral makeup, lip balm and much more!
