I hope that you’ve been enjoying hearing about the Cosmetic Trend Show. It really is a great show that Nordstrom puts on and I highly recommend that if they have one of these shows in your area – be sure to attend!

The final segment of the show was Black, Smoky Eyes, and smokin they were!

Laura Mercier, Lancôme, Dior, Smashbox and Yves St. Laurent were the beauty lines featured in this segment.

Laura Mercier highlighted the Tuxedo palette. This is a quad palette that has white and black shades in matte and shimmery textures. Lovely. When doing a smoky eye it’s important to keep the lips and cheeks neutral, at the risk of looking clown-like if you don’t follow that rule. The model featured here, her look would be great for a casual, but fun party night out.

Lancôme also had the smoky eye and neutral lips in a more formal look for an elegant evening out.   They featured some of their holiday palettes as well as their Ôscillation mascara. I know, I know, I’ve mentioned it before that the thought of vibrating mascara near my eyes could bring me permanent damage, but with more companies bringing out their own versions of this, I may have to succumb to giving it a try.  Alex is the Lancôme representative that is shown with the model.   Julianne, the host of the show says that he is THE BEST in the business for taking one look at you and telling you what eye shadow shade you should be wearing. He has been in the midwest giving classes for makeup and I was signed up to attend one of those classes, but unfortunately it ended up the timing was not to be, as my mother passed away that day. I did get a quick moment to talk to him here and he said he will return for the classes again in spring. I am definitely signing up!

The model for Dior looked beautifully classic as well.   Their holiday palette was Black and White Ball Collection.   However, the eye palette was sold out it was so popular – you know how those limited edition collections get. But Tim did a beautiful job with other similar shades in their line.  Their Night Diamond compact is a beautiful compact that you may want to keep forever!   They’ve also lowered the price from $80 to $59, a nice savings.

They had a fragrance giveaway of ‘J’Adore to one lucky winner in the audience.  Only, the winner had to “walk” the runway like Charlize Theron in the commercials!

Smashbox was featuring their Glam Box Vol 3 – Beauty On The Go.  Another great value – $190 worth of product for now only $49.90.  Halo was also featured – their new product that is a loose, hydrating powder, but doesn’t get all over.   Take a look, it has a dial that keeps the powder contained and you use only as much as needed by turning the dial.  Nice invention!

Look at the unique way they had her wearing her scarf – intriguing.

Last in the makeup was Yves St. Laurent featuring their holiday palette “The Bow” Collection.  This is a beautiful plum palette and look at how lovely she is with her striking red hair and the plum shades on her eyes.   Smoky eyes don’t have to be black or charcoal, and this plum collection proves that.

If you haven’t tried the Rouge Volupte Lipstick – do so now!  Yes, at $34 for a tube of lipstick it is expensive, but look at how beautiful the case is – it deserves to be displayed!   And the lipstick is so moisturizing and creamy – yummy.

Now remember, this was a holiday show – but if you want to give these looks a try, don’t think you can  only do them for the holidays.   These looks can be used and interpreted any time this winter.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the show the last few days and possibly taken a few of the beautiful looks and given them a try.  You may still be able to find some of the limited edition palettes out there, and in many cases even on sale – which is a rareity in itself.

Stay tuned for a few one-on-one interviews with Dior and Rock and Republic lines.
