LOreal Age Perfect

There are so many different changes in our skin from our 20’s to 40’s and beyond that it’s hard to keep up on what our skin needs, what really helps it and what is hype. But one thing I learned many years ago from speaking with various dermatologists that they all agree on, our skin cells don’t turn over as quickly as they did in our youth.  One of the reasons that someone in their 20’s or younger has “the glow” that we all are aspiring to have is because in our 20’s the cell turnover is much quicker and plentiful compared to someone over 40’s.  See the chart below that shows how much cell renewal is dramatically decreased as we age. L’Oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Collection is a gentle line of skincare that helps stimulate skin surface renewal, turning over millions of new skin cells each day.

Cell Renewal

While I admit I’m somewhat of a skincare snob and tend to buy more expensive skincare products, I was anxious to try this skincare line when it was sent to me for several reasons. One, because it does target the cell turnover which dermatologists agree helps with keeping skin more youthful and you just can’t argue with that. Two, I have many of you asking me for good alternatives to expensive skincare lines and I do like to find options for every price range.  Three, I really haven’t been disappointed in any L’Oreal products I’ve tried before and figured this would be good as well.  I was right, it is good, in fact it’s better than good!

Age Perfect Cell Renewal contains Lipo Hydroxy Acid which is a derivative of salicylic acid, LHA effectively stimulates surface skin cell renewal without irritating the skin and it contains Natecium DHC a powerful anti-oxidant that helps protect skin from free radicals. Other ingredients are Cicer Arietnimum seed extract and Vigna Aconitifolia seed extract, which according to L’Oreal are naturally derived ingredients known to boost energy metabolism of the epidermis and in turn help stimulate skin’s renewal.

LOreal Age Perfect SerumI’ve been using the trio of products for a few weeks now and am impressed with them. There is a Day Cream that contains SPF 15, a Night Cream and a Golden Serum Treatment.  Above is a dollop of the serum – you can see the golden micro-reflectors in it which give it almost a pearl-like look.  The serum is super soothing and skin softening. I will say that for the first 10 – 20 seconds after applying there is a somewhat unpleasant scent that quickly disappears. I have a super sensitive nose and sensitive skin, and it doesn’t irritate either one.

The Day Cream is a medium weight creamy texture that isn’t heavy or irritating. For my skin it’s the perfect weight that absorbs quickly and makeup goes on smoothly afterwards.  This does not have the scent to it like the serum does. I actually don’t notice a scent with this or the night cream.  The Night Cream is a little bit more thicker than the Day Cream, but goes on easily and again doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. After using the line for a couple of days I noticed in a few areas that I had a little bit of flakiness on my face that quickly rubbed off. I am attributing that to an exfoliation process that my skin is going thru when using this.  Within a few days of that happening I really haven’t noticed it any longer.

Would I recommend the L’Oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Skincare? Absolutely! It’s like having snobby skincare at an affordable price. Each of the pieces in the collection retails for $24.99 and is available at food and drug retailers everywhere.
