Dior Fall 2014 collection includes 5 new 5 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palettes and I really like the assortment of palettes. It’s a mixed assortment of everyday wearable palettes to more intense and dramatic palettes. They all can be viewed here. Bar, Tutu and Trafalgar are all pretty day time shades, with Trafalgar crossing over from a day time to dramatic evening. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the model above is wearing Trafalgar in the dramatic sense. Then there’s the all encompassing blue palette Carre Bleu and then my favorite of the group Pied de Poule
I have several shadows that I could work into the other palettes and typically I am not a blue shadow person so that palette didn’t interest me either, but the colors and textures of the Pied de Poule caught my eye (pun intended) right away. I’ve had a lot of fun playing with this palette – going from a lighter hand to be able to wear the shades during the day to a more dramatic evening smoky eye.
On my hand you will see on the far left the lightest shade working around the palette counter-clock wise and ending with the center shadow/liner shade. For day you can easily wear the first three shades on my hand – the silvery shade all over the lid, the creamy shade on the inner corner, the plummy shade in the crease and/or along the lash line and of course the black for the liner. The liner shade isn’t a true black but more of a deep dark charcoal, which I like because it softens it a bit. To add drama at night I’ve worn the greenish/black shade (4th from left on hand) with the charcoal/black. Love it!
Here again some of you may look at the palette and go – shimmer! I can’t wear shimmer! Wrong! These are not glittery. The only shimmer shade that I would be cautious in applying is the creamy shade. Reserve that shade for inner corner of the eyes and my opinion – avoid just wearing the white and silvery shade. Too 70’s that we’ve been there done that before, but by accenting it with one of the other shades it makes it more modern.
