I’ve dreamed of owning a real beauty vanity ever since I was a little girl and used to play at my grandmother’s vanity. She let me use her makeup and perfume and jewelry and I would sit for what probably was hours and play. When I was about five she gave me my very own vanity for Christmas. Plastic as it was with fake mirrors and all I love it and all these years later I still remember it like it was yesterday. So when One Kings Lane contacted me and asked me to put together my dream vanity built on one of their mirrors, I was in heaven! Being the beauty and skincare junkie that I am and also working in the interior design field, this was a really fun thing to do!
Here are some of the things I’ve chosen from One Kings Lane and why I chose them. They have so many great mirrors to choose from that I had a hard time settling on one mirror!
Villa Mirror – I like the shape of this mirror and the fact that it’s not framed in a typical wooden or metal frame so it doesn’t compete with items on the vanity.
Alba X Leg Desk – no need to use a traditional vanity, use a desk instead! They have drawers and I like the clean simplistic lines of this one. The lacquered top makes it easy to clean off, too.
Beaumont Accent Lamp – A lamp softens the lighting (if you use the right bulbs) and this one has a marble base and a silk shade, which I love the combination of the rough marble and smooth silk.
Antique Tray – I like to keep assortments of my beauty products on trays. It helps to keep them organized while looking pretty.
Black Lacquer Box with Agate – I love collecting boxes as they can hold so many treasures. Put your favorite jewelry or other special things in there.
Flash Frame – Put a favorite photo in this lovely textured frame and it’s a sure way to make you smile. Who wouldn’t want to start the morning out that way! I like to mix metal tones of silver and gold – it adds more interest.
Seascape Candle – such a pretty jar this candle is in, it looks like a brooch. When it’s all burned out then use it as a makeup brush holder.
Marble tissue box – tissues are a must and with all these pretty things, you don’t want a basic cardboard box.
Dove Box – this would be great to put either cotton balls or Q-tips inside.
Lizzy Garden Stool – I love the pattern on this garden stool to sit on.
Add to these things some of my go-to beauty pieces and what a beautiful setting this would be!
Now I’m inspired! I don’t have the room for a separate vanity in my own home, but now I’m inspired to make my bathroom vanity/counter top look as pretty. What would you do if you could create your own special vanity?

I remember my grandmother’s vanity as well. So many drawers with surprises inside them. The idea of “vanities” made you sit down to take the time to beautify yourself. I’m glad we’re moving back to that time. You did well with your One Kings Lane selections (love that company). I have a vanity with a stool too but I need more drawers!! Thanks.
