The Dolce & Gabbana Holiday 2013 is the Sicilian Jewels Collection. The collection consists of 4 new nail and 4 new lip colors in the jewel tones of Amethyst, Emerald, Topza and Ruby.

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, there are actually amethyst and emerald lip colors.  To be honest I thought the lip shades would be more unwearable than they really are. I’d wear any of the nail colors that’s for sure and I love the rich jewel tones. However there are 2 shades in the lipsticks that are throwing me for a curve. The Amethyst and the Emerald shades.  But when I applied them, the only one left me questioning its wearability is the Emerald shade.

The Amethyst shade would actually look really lovely on very fair skin or darker skin. My fair to middle of the road skin is not the right tone for this shade. It’s a mauve lavender shade is not nearly as intense as it looks in the tube. The Emerald however, I think probably no one over 40 would attempt to wear that – certainly not me. It is truly emerald and intense.  The Topaz shade works great in two ways -it can be worn alone, but I personally love this ruby shade and when you dab a little bit of the Topaz shade in the center it really gives it a pretty golden shimmer to the lips.  It’s a lovely look especially for the holidays.

The Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream  lipsticks are super creamy and moisturizing and feel so good on the lips. And these holiday cases are truly like little jewels with the jewel tone topped lids.

See the video below that Dolce & Gabbana beauty director, Pat McGrath has created showing the holiday look.  The line appears this month at select Saks stores and online – however I do not see it online as of today.
