I don’t know if this is a new trend or has been around for quite some time, but it’s just recently gotten my attention. Cosmetics as Jewelry. Interesting concept, as the pieces are quite stunning in their own glory, yet one I’m not really convinced about that someone may even wear.

Take this Giorgio Armani Jewel For Lips. It’s a pendant that can be worn around the neck and while beautiful and vintage looking, (from what I can tell it may be crystals on the top of the ball)the ball opens into two and on one side reveals a satin beige shade of ArmaniSilk lipstick and the other a small mirror for application. At $125 for this limited edition, it’s by no means a bargain. Maybe that adds to its specialness.

Also in this category is Dior’s Golden Dior Luminizing Makeup Jewel A beautiful amber toned pendant on a satin ribbon that when opened up contains a golden highlighter for the face, lips or eyes. This one retails for $55.

And last but certainly not least in this category is YSL Soleil D’Afrique Collector Bronzing Powder. This was created to celebrate YSL’s 30 years in makeup. It’s made of a natural wood and contains a beautiful bronzing powder. $75
I do believe these are beautiful, but maybe because I’m over 40 I visualize these pieces as only being used in the “Clubbin Crowd”. What are your thoughts? Would you ever buy any of these for the purpose of makeup or wear them because they are beautiful. I’d love to hear what you had to say and whether you are over 40 or not.

hmmmm jury is still out…
Maybe this is great for some people, but I’ll keep my touch up make-up in a clutch or purse rather than around my neck when I go out for the evening. Brenda :o)
