Lancôme abassador Kate Winslet looked resplendent at the Academy Awards yesterday, clad in an Yves Saint Laurent gown and bold jewelry from Tiffany & Co. Kate’s long-time makeup artist, Jillian Dempsey, topped off the look with soft, ethereal makeup. Both the eyes and the lips got equal attention on this Oscar winner. Shimmering, champagne-pewter shades highlighted the eyes, while very saturated mascara delivered that extra definition. A pop of pink blush on her cheeks gave Kate just a hint of a natural flush. Jillian topped off the look with nude-pink lips.

Celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey did Lancôme ambassador Kate Winslet’s beautiful makeup tonight for the Golden Globes.   I LOVED her smoky eye – a little more intense than she usually has done in the past.

Kate’s look was clean and luminous. Armani Luminous Silk Foundation showed off Kate’s naturally beautiful complexion.

To create contoured cheekbones, Jillian used Avon Be Blushed in Blushing Nude and highlighted the cheeks with a brightener.

Jillian Dempsey For Avon Professional Kohl Eye Liner in Navy played off the midnight hues of Kate’s dress. Several coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara in Excessive Black really made Kate’s eyes pop.

For Kate’s matte lip, which she requested, Jillian topped lip liner with Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere for a soft, pretty finish.

Kate Winslet looked every bit the Hollywood classic star that she is.  I’ve been a huge fan of hers for years and am so thrilled that this was finally her year.

She looked beautiful in a multi-toned one shoulder YSL dress. Celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey wanted to create a classic, natural look, and here’s how you can create the look at home. 

First, she prepped Kate’s skin with Lancôme La Base Pro primer to create a smooth canvas for a polished complexion.

She lightly brushed Lancôme Brow Expert in Naturel on the brows to play up their natural shape.

Jillian Dempsey for Avon Pro Eyeshadow Trio in Ice Shimmer was applied to the eyes and the lashes were coated with Jillian Dempsey for Avon Pro Mascara in Black.

To create a sheer, neutral colored lip, Lancôme Color Fever Lipstick in Old Flame was applied for a soft, matte finish.

Kate looked gorgeous in a vibrant blue Narciso Rodriguez gown and dazzling Chopard jewels. With this bright dress the makeup couldn’t compete – no bright red lips like the Golden Globes, but just as lovely.

Celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey played up Kate’s eyes with lots of black eyeliner, mascara and shimmering shadow paired with a soft neutral palette on her lips and cheeks.

Jillian used Lancôme Artliner in Noir on the upper lash line and then lightly dusted Jillian Dempsey Professional for Avon Eyeshadow Trio in Pebble Wash on the eyelid. She finished the eyes with a few coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara in Black

For the lips, she used Serge Lutens nude lip liner and filled in the entire lip. Finally, she applied Color Fever Gloss in Engaging, a very sheer nude shade, for a high-shine pout.

Does Kate not always look glamorous at the awards shows?   I thought she looked stunning on Sunday night at the Golden Globes.

Jill Dempsey was her makeup artist for this year’s Golden Globe awards and did an impeccable, classic look on her.   In fact, my husband even said “Kate is a very classy looking woman”.  Which means, he thinks she is incredibly gorgeous.

I’ll break down for you the products that Jill used on Kate that evening so you can try the look for yourself at home.

First she applied this Avon Professional Kohl liner on the upper lashes and then applied dark brown eyeliner on the lower lashes, then smudge the brown shade on the lower eye.  Take the liner out past the eye slightly on the outer corner, almost to a slight cat eye.

Next she applied this Lancôme eyeshadow in the color Chic by lightly brushing it on the eyelid.    It’s a neutral shade that polishes her eye without fighting  with the sexy liner and lips.  Fair-skinned Kate can use a light to medium shade – be sure to find a neutral that works for your skintone.

Next she finished off the eye look with several coats of Lancôme Ôscillation mascara in black.  If you have straight short lashes, be sure to curl them first with a lash curler, it will help your eyes pop.

Jillian then topped the apples of her cheeks with custom mixture of coral and peachy shades.   Lancôme’s Color Design Blush is sheer and very blendable.

Lastly, she topped her lips in a classic red shade.   She used Avon Pro-to-Go Lipstick in Cherry Glisten on Kate.   Be sure to find the right shade of red for you – some are more blue are others more orange, find what works for  your tone.   Also, if a solid lipstick in a red shade is too much for you, which it is for many women over 40, try a sheer lipstick or a gloss in red.  They’re less strong, but still give you a pop of color.
