Lancome Holiday 2009 has an incredibly large selection of colors to choose from to get your beautiful holiday look on.
Take for example this eye and cheek palette. It’s a $70 value for only $39.50. This palette is called Plum Irresistible, with shades of roses, mauves, plums and browns. Lovely. There are two other palettes to choose from that are set up like this one and they are Evening Splendor which is on the warmer side with goldens, peaches and browns and Nude Seduction for a day time look with a hint of sexy with some of the shimmer shadows.
Typically I am not a cream eyeshadow person. I usually find them to be more cumbersome than I like, even though many brands have some beautiful color choices. Maybe I just need to practice more. So to say I was reluctant to try these Color Design Cream Eye shadows may be an understatement. But I was truly wowed with them and wore them in various combinations FOUR times last week! Besides these being beautiful shades – Pink Lace, Haute Smoke and Garter Belt, (a pinky/nude, a smoky taupe and a plummy burgundy) they are actually very easy to use. I think the difference is that these have a built in brush – it’s a short stubby brush that you can apply the shadows with, or just brush the color slightly on your lids and smoothe the color around with your finger. They’re extremely finger-friendly, where other cream shadows I’ve used in the past don’t let your fingers glide over them. they tend to be almost pasty. They look like they would be super-shimmery on, but they aren’t highly shimmery. $22.00
What can one say about Juicy Tubes that hasn’t already been said about a million times. If you haven’t tried these before, you MUST! They come in about a myriad colors (OK that’s an exaggeration if there ever was one) and the color Beach Plum is my new all-time favorite shade of Juicy Tube. LOVE! Some are flavored, which could be why my 2 and 4 year old great-nieces take them from me every time I see them! (OK, Auntie Kari is a sucker for knowing how much they love them too). But this set is only $39.50 (an $81 value) and if you dont’ want to give the whole set away as a gift or keep it for yourself – you now have 8 gifts for stocking stuffers!
With shades of purple THE hot color this year, Untamed Plum nail color is a beautiful deep plum shade that would be fabulous on nails for this holiday season. $18. You would be so on-trend with this color on your nails.
Untamed Plum is also the shade color of the La Laque Fever Lip Color. It goes on like a gloss, but stays like a lipstick. The heart shaped applicator makes it easy to apply on your lips – no mirror required, so you can do a quick touch-up at any party without a mirror. This shade is a deep plum with high shimmer $26. For my fair skin this Untamed Plum is a bit dark for me, but would be beautiful on darker skinned women. There are several other shades to try and if you haven’t tried the La Laque Fever before, I highly recommend to.
Isn’t this Sparkling Cherub compact adorable? I love the little purple heart touch. At first glance and use, I was a bit concerned that it would be more glittery than shimmer as it was quite glittery – not good for someone over 40. But, after the first swipe, the glitter is gone and the color just warms up and highlights where you apply – whether your face, eyes or decollete. $40

Dior’s Holiday Collection is cool and icy and gorgeous. Not going the route of a typical dark, smoky holiday look that can infiltrate many makeup collections this time of year, Dior went down the path to lightness.
This 5 eyeshadow palette Smoky Crystal is in shades of silver and purple with irridescence to give a holiday glow.
And, Dior has some excellent Holiday Collection palettes for lips, (which is screaming my name) eyes, a travel palette with everything you would need in one patent zip case.
I love the Silver Purple nail polish that I purchased and get compliments on it all the time. There’s also the ever-fabulous lip gloss and lipsticks and even a brush kit in a patent case as well.
There are some wonderful items to think about for yourself or as gifts that no Dior Addict will be disappointed in having in her makeup bag!
I’ve been keeping a lid on this one for a few months now. I was lucky enough to see this FABULOUS Exotic Jewels Collection when I was in NYC in September. Our blogging group went to the Victoria’s Secret offices and they showed us several of their upcoming collections.
To be honest, most of their fragrance collections are just not my thing – great for gifts to give the younger women in my family, but not for me. But this Exotic Jewels collection by Heidi Klum just blew me away. It is simply gorgeous - from the product to the packaging. I received many pieces from this collection (unfortunately not in the pretty packaging for some pieces) and the eye shadows are yummy, the lipsticks are as creamy as ever, the gloss is super shiny and not sticky, the mascara is wonderful and the glitter liquid liner is simply divine and the little colored balls called Face Gems are like little jewels. Can you tell I like this collection!
This collection is inspired by her life-changing trip to the spiritual city of Varanasi, India. She and Seal renewed their wedding vows there. You can see the influence of India in the gorgeous packaging and colors of the makeup. Here’s an extra “bonus” with the lipstick and gloss – they smell and taste like CHOCOLATE! Not like a bad, oh that’s trying to be chocolate – but more like you just ate something chocolate and the taste is still on your lips!
