Dancing Queen

Dancing Queen

You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen;  Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine;  You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life; See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

Ahh, remember that ABBA song from “our day”?   I love(d) playing ABBA songs – they are fun ones to dance to, only these days dancing heels seem higher and my feet get sore faster.   Why is it that when you’re in your 20’s shoes didn’t seem to irritate as much as they do when we’re in our 40’s or more.   I want good looking heels, but comfort is more important.   Still, a good heel for a special occasion is fun.

I’ve had a few weddings this month where I wanted to wear heels that are a bit out of my comfort zone.   Typically the balls of my feet hurt when wearing 3½ or 4″ heels, not to mention rubbing on the toes or heels or anywhere else for that matter.  Sometimes those foot cushions help, but I have a couple of pairs where they seem to make my shoes fit too tightly when I have them inserted.    Along came Polly to the rescue.

When wearing my 4″ heels a few days ago, I rubbed Polly, an all natural foot primer that creates a barrier between your skin and shoe, on the balls of my feet, at the top of one of my toes where I know these particular shoes rub, and at the buckle on the strap where the metal touches my skin and can irritate my skin and make it red and swollen.   In fact, the last time I wore these shoes the metal buckle had irritated my skin so badly that it took about 3 days for the swelling and red rash to go away.   I was brave to dare wear them again.   But, I wore these shoes for nearly 8 hours after applying Polly and my feet didn’t irritate me at all!

You can re-apply often, and the tube is only a few inches high so you can discreetly put it in a bag for touch ups if needed.   I think Polly is one of those products that should be sold at every shoe department.   Instead, for now it is sold only at GlamourJunkie.com and a few select stores.  Check out iheartpolly.com for more info.   Maybe the high heeled women of this world can band together and demand this be sold everywhere!

Ms. Pedicure; She’s Such a Smooth Talker!

smooth-talker1

After my crazy week in New York my feet were absolutely killing me!   Whether wearing heels or flats, I was walking everywhere and my feet were starting to show some wear and tear with dryness and callouses developing.   I was anxious to use my Smooth Talker when I got back home.

The Smooth Talker will whip your feet into shape in no time.   It doesn’t matter if you are doing a full blown pedicure or just the important foot maintenance.

Smooth Talker has a nice sized handle that’s easy to grip when your hands are all wet.   One side is more coarse and the flip side is more fine.   I use it in the shower and put a little shampoo on the coarse side and work it over my feet.   Then I take the fine side and smooth over my feet again.  Then I dry my feet and apply a nice coating of foot cream.

Ahhh, my feet are finally happy again – thanks to Smooth Talker.

Pedi-Relax Review

I cannot begin to describe to you how dry my feet get.  Awful. Disgusting. Eeewww.  Hopelessly dry.   I actually took a photo of my heels and decided against publishing the looks of them.  I didn’t want you to lose your breakfast or lunch or your cookies in general.

I do moisturize my feet often, and about once a week take a pumice stone to them, but even after a pedicure they look good about one or maybe two days and then they are back to dry, cracked, horrible heels.

I’ve been using this Pedi-Relax 3 piece foot care kit for about three weeks now and I have to say, it has definitely made a difference in the dawgs.

The kit includes:

  • Exfoliating Cream for Feet - Made with essential oils of lemon, it has a fresh scent and strong exfoliation, but certainly not harsh.    It also contains Urea, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Polyethylene Microbeads.  It is mild, but does exfoliate – and you can use daily for the first few weeks and after that use only a few times a week.  It is a creamy exfoliator, and feels gentle enough to use on your face, but I don’t think I’d try that.
  • Protective Barrier Cream - This is specifically formulated to create a protective barrier between feet and shoes.  It prevents overheating during exercise and contains Sweet Almond Oil to smooth feet and Pro-Vitamin B5 and Squalane to provide moisture.   I love the smell of this, and I think this is my favorite of the three products in the kit because it keeps moisturizing all day long.  It is rich and creamy, but not too thick.
  • Intense Hydrating Cream for Feet – This is for extreme situations (HELLO!) and provides extreme hydration and protection for healthier feet.  I rub this in my feet at night and slip on a pair a socks for a short time and in the morning wake up with soft feet (what a concept!)

I believe my desire to have soft feet in 2009 will be met!   Oh, and another great part – all three full size (4.2 oz) tubes combined sell for $19.99.   Now you will never have bad looking feet again and it is beauty to fit your budget!
