Dick Page For Shiseido at Nordstrom

dick-page

I spoke recently about Dick Page’s new collection of lipsticks and liners for Shiseido, and now he has a limited lipstick and liner for Nordstrom called Rose Bronze.

limited-edition

I love the sound of that combination –  Rose for a pretty flush of color and Bronze to warm it all up in a pearly metallic formula.  It’s available now through June and once it’s gone – it’s gone.

What do you think of Dick’s sketch for a look shown above?    I  think it looks very seductive.   Here’s how you can create the “Bronze Beauty”  look at home, using Shiseido products.

Glimmering Bronze Smokey Eyes

1. Apply Hydro Powder Shadow in Tiger Eye (H3) from lash to brow.

2. On the back of your hand, mix Tiger Eye (H3) with a dab of the Accentuating Cream Eyeliner in Dark Brown (2), to create a deeper, lustrous shadow.

3. Apply and blend from upper lash line to the crease and also apply to lower lash line.

4. Apply the Accentuating Cream Eyeliner on the top and bottom lash lines to elegantly define the eyes.

5. Apply Lasting Lift Mascara in Black (LL1) to upper and lower lashes to create maximum curl and volume.

Flushed Cheeks

1. Pat and blend the Accentuating Color Stick in Bronze Flush (S1) for brilliantly flush cheeks.

Rose Bronze Lips

1. Apply the New Smoothing Lip Pencil in Rosewood (BR706) to the entire lip area following the natural lip line and shape.

2. Also apply the New Exclusive Perfect Rouge Rose Bronze (RS799), to the entire lip area to give lips a plump look.

Dick Page in Allure Magazine

In the June issue of Allure magazine (yes, I know I’m a bit behind in my magazine reading) Dick Page of makeup artistry fame had an article titled “Simply Done”. I like Dick Page for his knowledge, beautiful artistry and great tips he offers in Allure magazine for the general public to share and experience.

In this article he talks about rules. He does not believe in them – he believes in trying different things and seeing what works best for you. I like that philosophy, because I’ve tried some other artists “rules” before and some of them have made me look quite hideous!

He also suggests that eyeliner is to be used close to the lash line, brows are not an “in” thing or an “out” thing – you can have thin or big and bushy -it’s about what works for your face.

He likes to put blush on first because if you look like you have a healthy flush, you may need less makeup overall, and he also likes to put on lipstick with an eyeshadow brush – then the lines don’t look so sharp. Hey, I like these rules. They seem simple enough to follow – I can do that!

But then he said something that really threw me – the makeup enthusiast that I am. Limit yourself to one or two products within a feature, possibly three. So he’s saying not to use an eyeshadow base, eye shadow, liner, brow filler and lengthening and thickening mascaras, pick only one or two, possibly three.

WHAT!?

I honestly don’t know if I can do that! How do I cover the red blotches on my eyelids without my killer shadow primer? How do I make my eyes look alive without using shadow? How do I define my now dead looking eyes without liner, and no mascara? OK this is just my eyes we’re talking about here – haven’t even gotten to using concealer on my red blotchy nose area, and my coveted foundation primer along with either my tinted moisturizer or foundation and topping it off with my MAC blot powder. I know it may sound like I wear a lot on my face, but I swear I do it with a light hand so I don’t look like I’m wearing a ton of makeup. But how can I live with only one or two products per area on my face! I’m just not that kind of girl!

Oh yeah, I forgot – Dick’s all for not following the rules. I don’t think I can follow the one to two product rule. Possibly three, I can try that rule.
