The kit has two eye shadows, one in a gold shimmer the other in a green shimmer and a warm toned bronzer. $30 for the kit. Beautiful fall colors at an affordable price. As you know, Kohls continually has cosmetics on sale – making this a Beauty on a Budget!
Our beauty routines definitely vary from summer to winter, especially if you live where the weather changes dramatically like it does where I live. I’ve put together my list of 9 Summer Must-Haves $20 or less that will fit most any budget and are sure to please.
Jouer makes some of my favorite must-haves any time of the year and I love the Moisture Tints,. This packaging of it is the newest addition to their line. These Mini Luminizing Moisture Tints are perfect for summer. Light enough to let your skin breathe, SPF protection and a glowy complexion, all the things that are a must for over 40 skin. But now in these mini sizes you can carry one in your handbag, desk, makeup bag at home and maybe even give one to share with a friend so they know how fabulous they are too! $20 for a pack of 4. Golden is my perfect shade.
Avon is ready to help you with your summer frizzy hair. Their new Advance Techniques Frizz Control Lotus Shield is simple to use and helps keep frizz at bay for up to 3 days. No more out of control, frizzies in these humid summer days. Just apply a dollop of this to damp hair, then add your regular styling products, style your hair and you are set to go! Reg. $12
Essie nail polishes have so many wonderful shades to choose from. My go-to shade for summer the last few years has been Mini How High. It’s the perfect pink that keeps your nails looking fresh, clean, professional and crisply polished. $8
American Beauty has some fabulous colors in their makeup line. This Pretty Bronze Bronzing Powder goes on beautifully. There are a few shades to choose from to match your skin tone, and it comes in a nicely mirrored compact with an actual usable brush! Reg. $17.50
Jouer’s Cheek and Lip Tints are summer simple to use. You can use your fingers or a brush to give you a sheer beautiful flush on your cheeks or tap on your lips for a pop of color. This shade is Whisper, but there are 7 additional shades for your perfect match. $20
Take an energizing shower using Liz Earle Energizing Body Wash. Made with pure plant extracts, the Sweet Orange scent is so refreshing and makes you ready to face the hot, humid days. 3.3 0z size $15.
Tanning towelettes are all the rage and these Sonia Kashuk for Target Sunless Tanning Towelettes can’t be beat in measure of effectiveness and cost. Just make sure you apply using circular motions or you may end up with streaks. $9.99 for a package of 6 face or 4 body.
Supergoop! makes these Quick Sticks that are 100% natural, contain Vitamin C and are super easy to use. Just swipe them on the most often sun exposed places, your face and hands. $9 and you can use it on newborns as well.
And last but not least, another Jouer product! Moisturizing Lip Gloss is available in 20 shades. I own a few including this shade Divine. They’re moisturizing, contain Vitamins A, C & E and shea butter, jojoba and pomegranate seed oils. They’re $20 and conveniently connect to the other pieces in the line.
American Beauty has a new lipgloss called Fabulous Feel High Shine Lipgloss. It is really very shiny and super smooth without the stickiness. I’ve been testing #06 Poppy and really like the shade. It is a pinkish red that is of medium color coverage, more than sheer but not as heavy as a creamy lipstick.
This new gloss is infused with aloe vera and vitamins A & E. I really like this gloss for it’s color, texture, moisturizing ability and price. The moisturizing lasts for several hours. It retails for $12.50 at Kohls stores or online and goes on sale often, like right now for $10.62.
Be sure to check out the new Pink Gingham Spring Look Kit. It too is a value at $30 (typically on sale for less) and includes an eye shadow duo in Pink Gingham, a blush in Rosy Cheeks shade and Softly Shaping mascara. American Beauty is great quality (owned by Estee Lauder) at a very budget friendly price, it’s definitely a Beauty on a Budget must.

Have you thought of Kohls Department Store as your go-to beauty store? If not, maybe you should consider it. The beauty lines are available only at Kohls and have the Estée Lauder quality and backing.
I recently spent time at Kohls with the lovely Dina to learn more about the beauty lines available there.
American Beauty is the most expansive of the lines – offering a full range of makeup and skin care. You may recognize the name and the spokeswoman, Ashley Judd, as I have spoken about some of the products previously. The color line offers a great range of products. In fact, Dina used the mineral foundation and eye shadow duo in Gilded Violets - on my eyes and Ultra-Easy Automatic Eyeliner in Mocha. On my cheeks she applied Perfect Mineral Loose Powder in Mocha Crystal and on my lips she used a pretty shade of Sweettart in the Moisture Rich Lipstick.
The cosmetic line Flirt! is a line I think of targeted toward the younger sect for some reason. But, there are many beautiful shades of lip colors and eye palettes that are definitely worth giving a look – all at a reasonable price.
These Limited Edition Eyes Rock Dreamy palettes are only $16.99 regular price – a great value. And the Lash-a-Delic mascara gives you dreamy thick, full, long lashes, wrapping your lashes in a tube-style coverage.
The GoodSkin Labs line of skincare offers a nice range of targeted skincare problem solvers. Like the Eyliplex – 2 Eye Lift & Circle Reducer. It’s a gel to use by day for lifting and a balm for nighttime for moisturizing and reducing dark circles. Or the Smooth 365 Intensive Clarity and Smoothing Serum. It’s full of those great peptides that are so important for us and it gives your skin this soft matte finish that makes makeup application over it easy.
The newest addition to the beauty lines is Grassroots Reasearch Labs skincare. It’s not a huge range of products but more targeted to specific needs, like a Brightening Cream or a Anti-Redness Cream. They use natural products mixed with great science. Perfect for those looking for a more natural product that is still effective.
Lastly, be sure to check out the fragrance lines that are only available at Kohls. Like the Beloved range of fragrances and Daisy Fuentes line of fragrances as well.
Think of Kohls for your Beauty on a Budget. And remember, Kohls has sales on their makeup and fragrances – you can’t get that at other department stores.
I have been using this American Beauty Ultimate Diamond Luminous Mineral Makeup SPF 15 for several weeks now. It’s a new foundation that is available at Kohl’s Department Stores later this month for around $25.00
The shade range is nice, and in the summer I get maybe a tiny bit of color, so my shade is A39 for fair/medium. I know in the winter I’d be A29 for fair. This foundation is a liquid mineral – personally I’m not a powder mineral fan, so I like that this is liquid because mineral makeup in general seems to have some wonderful qualities. For me this goes on a bit tackier than some liquid foundations, so I found it goes on best with a brush using small strokes rather than your fingers (similar to how the Giorgio Armani UV Lasting Silk foundation goes on). And I don’t mean that in a bad way, it’s a great foundation that leaves my skin look smooth, moisturized and healthy.
