I was discussing with a co-worker one day our beauty routines. Me, I’m much more involved with my skincare products and routines and she is one of those natural beauties who can go without any makeup ever and has great skin without hardly trying. Yes, I would look dead or 110 if I did that. But, I am always intrigued by what other people use and find in their must-have beauty routines. For my co-worker it’s these Yoshii Cloths by Imabari Towel.
She was telling me how when she lived in NYC she became friends with a woman who was from Japan and she was, of course, obsessed with skin care. Skincare in Japan is more than a routine, it’s quite a ritual. When they were visiting Japan, her friend introduced her to these cloths – one side is an incredibly soft chambray and the other side is a very soft looped terry cloth. My co-worker became immediately hooked and said that this is her one true beauty (or skincare) must-have. When my co-worker recently visited NYC, she brought me one back as a birthday gift and I could immediately tell why these are so popular in Japan. Simply amazing.
The Yoshii cloths are made in the infamous towel making region of Japan called Imabari. The process they use to make the cloths involves a natural separation of seed from the cotton, so it prevents tearing the fibers. This makes the environmentally safe towels so soft, quick drying and lightweight. One side is great for gentle exfoliation and the other to wipe away excess dirt and cleanser. The wash cloth is a large 13″ square size and it gets softer and softer with each washing.
I absolutely love this cloth and don’t know why I had never heard of it before. It’s a wonderful gift idea, too!
