My skincare challenge with Vaseline Intensive Rescue Repairing Moisture Lotion

Vaseline giveaway

What can happen when you are given the challenge to try a lotion you haven’t been using? Well, with my fickle skin, a lot. I have skin sensitivities and the winter weather can make it worse. Dry, itchy skin and just overall feeling of parched skin. Oftentimes I can apply a lotion in the morning after showering and by afternoon or earlier, my skin is dry. So when Vaseline challenged me to try their Vaseline Intensive Rescue Repairing Moisture body lotion and to head outdoors for an outdoor activity of ice skating to see how my skin feels, I accepted the challenge.

Day 1 – I showered in the morning and applied the Vaseline Intensive Rescue Repairing Moisture Lotion all over. There’s a flare up of eczema on my skin that I was concerned might be irritated by it, but seemed to be fine. I took a “before”photo of the irritated skin to see if I would be able to see a difference in a few days. Overall I like how well it moisturizes and doesn’t feel heavy or sticky.

Day 2 – My skin accepted the lotion well yesterday, so I used it again today with good results. Spent time running errands and it was cold outside, a big skin drying factor, that and the heat turned up in the house tends to dry everything out.

Day 3 – When I showered I used a scented body wash I had received for Christmas. I liked how the body wash smelled, but it didn’t moisturize my skin. Iapplied the Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion all over and didn’t have to worry about it clashing with my body wash scent because this is unscented. I like that I can mix that and not worry. Or if I want to apply a fragrance I don’t have to worry about mixing scents either.

Before and after Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion

Day 4 – Mr. Fab asks if that’s a new lotion I’ve been using because he needs something, but detests anything heavy or sticky. I inform him he will definitely like this then. He accepts my offer (hesitantly) and does like it. We were going to go skating today, but the busy day got away from us, besides, it was REALLY cold out. I took the “after” photo of my irritated skin area. I noticed a significant difference in look and feel – my skin wasn’t itchy.

Temp NewYears Day

Day 5 – I’ve been using Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion daily. Today was New Years Eve Day and by evening we were house crazy and decided to go for a walk. (We’re not big into heading to NYE parties) It was nearly single digit temps mind you. We walked for 80 minutes – certainly moisture-depleting conditions, but my skin was just fine!

Skating

Day 6 – On New Years Day we decided to go skating. It was cold out! I had used the Vaseline lotion on in the morning and before we headed out I prepared with my Vaseline Petroleum Jelly on my lips – my daily lip saver. I bundled up with my winter coat, toasty warm scarf and gloves and headed to the local rink. It was my first foray on the rink this year and the temp was 12°, but it felt really cold! Oh yeah, that not just feels cold, it is cold! We spent only about 1/2 hour out there and were “frozen” when we returned home, but my skin survived. I didn’t feel the need to reapply lotion after my initial application in the morning.

The contest is now closed.  The winners randomly chosen were:  Lori, Stacie, Meredith, Julie and Vera!  Congrats!

Overall, I am very pleased with Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion. My skin didn’t have any negative reaction to it, it stayed sufficiently moisturized and the fact that it’s unscented is a big bonus for me. Vaseline is offering 5 lucky winners a prize package of 1- 10 oz. bottle of Vaseline Intensive Rescue and 1 – 7.5 oz. jar of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. To enter go to Comments and tell me if want to give Vaseline a try. 5 winners will be randomly chosen and prize will be sent out by the company. Contest ends on January 22, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. CST.
