Did you spend a little bit too much time in the sun over the holiday and end up getting a sunburn? Even if you used SPF, did you remember to reapply? Or what about those pesky areas that you always want to make sure you put sunscreen on, but forgot again – you know, like the spot near the crook of the armpit or the toes? Yes, I missed a few of those spots, too, after spending hours in the sun and on the water I got a burn even with SPF 50. Here are some sunburn soother tips.
At the onset of a mild sunburn take ibuprofen. It helps alleviate the pain and it’s an anti inflammatory so it helps with any swelling as well. The sooner you can take this the better.
A cold milk compress will not only feel good but it will help soothe the skin. Here’s where whole milk is really good for you as the fat, pH and protein in milk are soothing to the skin.
After you’ve applied your milk compress, give skin a cooling and soothing feel with aloe gel. Not only does it feel cooling to the touch, it moisturizes the dehydrated skin and it has natural anti inflammatory properties.
Remember, these are sunburn soothers for milk sunburns. If you have a severe sunburn be sure to contact a physician.
