We always seem to wonder what to get dad for Father’s Day so I decided to go to the source himself, Mr. Fab. I asked him to compile a list of things that dads really want, not what we might think they want. Here’s what Mr. Fab came up with…
Grilling Tools – These are nice, heavy duty and include a flipper, tongs, a knife and a basting brush – all the things a guy needs to cook his family the perfect meal. Be sure to throw in a grate scraper – we like to keep our grills clean, too.
Dinner at a nice local restaurant. Personally I enjoy a nice meal out for a delicious sea bass dinner with my whole family. It’s a great time to kick back, have a few laughs, enjoy each other’s company and a guy can reflect on how great life really is.
Jambox – This portable speaker is great for getting a good sound when listening to music around the house or even outdoors. It also can work in the office as a speaker phone on conference calls and plenty of other uses. When sitting around the firepit in the back yard with family or friends its a great way to enjoy some tunes.
Briefcase – Yes, my family has been after me forever to get a new briefcase, but I’m particular. I don’t want it to look all shiny and new, I don’t want it to be fussy, but I like this Jack Spade one because it’s rugged, has hand or removable shoulder straps and best of all, it’s deep enough across the bottom to hold a lot of guy stuff.
Pevonia Men’s Travel Kit – I can’t be married to Fab Over Forty without hearing that I need to take care of my skin! Since I’m “forced” to use skincare and I travel at times for work it’s good to have skincare in smaller travel size. I’m really picky about what I do put on my face and I like how this smells great and doesn’t feel heavy and greasy on my face. Mrs. Fab tells me that it’s packed with natural ingredients and it’s good for my skin, too.
Gutters that don’t clog – a guy can dream, right? Ladies, let me tell you a secret. Not all guys like to spend their weekends repairing and constantly cleaning gutters and other things around the house. Gutters are my pet peeve and if you can find a solution that I don’t have to climb a ladder to clean them all the time – I am a very happy guy.
Last but not least, my dream has always been to go to a ballgame with my two sons, my father and my father-in-law. It was a 5 way conversation that never happened as my father passed away when I was only 22 and my boys never got to meet him and my father-in-law is no longer with us either. As we sit in the stands watching the game (no matter how bad or good the MN Twins are) we have some beers and dogs and chat about love and life – here and beyond.

Your blog touched my heart and made me realize how much I miss my father.
Thanks for a touching post
