It’s the second day of the year – have you broken any of your resolutions yet? OK we won’t go there. That’s why I decided a few years back I don’t like resolutions, they make you feel bad about something you more than likely are going to quit doing because of time constraints or general life getting in the way. Last year I decided that I was simply going to enjoy 2012 and I couldn’t feel like a failure by simply enjoying life! I have to say it was tough starting out, but once I kept on repeating my mantra “enjoy life” I started to take pressure off of myself and simply enjoy. And I had a lot of fun along the way and made a lot of reconnections with old friends and my family noticed I was happier, too.
I want to continue the “enjoy life” theme in my life because it was a lot of fun and I’ll be adding a few other things to it too, that I know will be easier to continue on thru 2013. I encourage you to try along with me some of these.
Get more sleep. I started some bad sleep habits – not going to bed as early as I used to, reading in bed till wee hours of the morning (although I love that reading books have become part of my life again) or turning on the TV when I wake up at 3:30 a.m. unable to fall back asleep again. I’ve ignored the fact too long that I’ve fallen into bad sleep habits and now it’s beginning to show not only in the skin on my face, but in my body as well. I’ve always been “that person” who could sleep anywhere at any time and I need to get that back.
Speaking of lack of sleep showing up in my skin (and general aging), I’ve decided that I’m a realist and can’t do it all so I’m going to be diligent about taking supplements to improve myself from the inside out. Yes, I am going to exercise more on a regular basis. I am not going to jump in all hells bells, but get a steady, doable routine that I will stick with. I started back at the health club this past fall and I truly feel better when I get there on the days I have planned and make it a priority to not let other things take unnecessary precedence. I won’t ever be a size 2 and that’s not my goal. My goal is to feel better and have more energy and if I lose a few unwanted pounds along the way – hooray for me!
So there you have it, my three very do-able goals for 2013. Nothing extraordinarily unusual, just simple additions to my life that will make it more enjoyable and allow me to keep my “enjoy life” mantra. What are you going to enjoy about 2013?
