Dealing with oily skin can be much more difficult than dealing with dry skin. Some days it just feels out of control and no matter what you do, your skin ends up being a shiny mess with makeup sliding off your face. And yes, some women over 40 still have oily skin.  Hourglass has a new foundation that works wonders for the oily skinned woman. It’s called Immaculate and it’s a liquid powder that is mattifying.
What I love about this foundation is that unlike cakey powder foundations that many with oily skin use, this applies like a regular liquid foundation but dries to a soft, velvety powder look. Â It’s oil-free and gives the skin a matte finish, yet it’s not pasty to the skin.
As always with Hourglass Cosmetics, Immaculate foundation is formulated without:
- Parabens
- Synthetic dyes and fragrances
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan
Immaculate foundation is also gluten free. Â Something I think we’ll be seeing more often in cosmetics. Â If you’re trying out the Hourglass Immaculate foundation, consider the Hidden Corrective Concealer too.
Hidden Corrective Concealer by Hourglass gives that great combination of smooth texture and great coverage.  Just a dab goes a long way in covering up dark circles and imperfections the whole day long – and it doesn’t settle into fine lines.  Wonderful!  It’s made with Vitamin E for skin protection and softening, and did I mention it lasts the whole day without settling into fine lines?  I guess I did – but, it’s worth mentioning again. Oh, and they’ve recently added 3 more shades to the collection making it wearable for many skin tones.
Samples of products were received for consideration of review.Â

Here’s my question about the foundation….it sounds like a miracle product! I’m over 40 and still very very shiny and oily. How does it hold up over the course of the day? I’ve tried a million and one foundations, powders, primers, and moisturizers that promise mattifying properties but have yet to find one that really keeps shine at bay all day. I am willing to pay more for a quality product but it upsets to buy the expensive brand only to find it doesn’t live up to its promises.
I had a sample that was only about 2 day’s worth of product. I would say I stayed non-shiny for at least 5-6 hours. Honestly, I don’t think there is a product out there that would last 12 or so hours keeping shine at bay. For those days, I always have my blotting papers at hand.
Sounds promising. I too have oily skin and I’m over 50! This is where face blotters come in. Don’t leave home without them!
Thanks for your response! At this point, something that held my shine at bay for 5-6 hours, I would probably consider that a miracle product
I will head over to the mall this weekend and see if I can sample it in person. Thanks!!
Yes, definitely sample if you can.
Do you actually have really oily skin? I do. I’m super oily. I’m rapidly closing in on 50 and my fave STILL produces so much oil it would easily qualify for OPEC status. As a super-oily girl, I am confident in stating the words “oil free” are meaningless when it comes to oil control. Just because something is oil free means nothing when it comes to controlling shine. “Mattifying” is another meaningless term, really, since lots of products are great for an hour or two… some can even reduce shine for 4 hours. When you get past that, you quickly separate the GOOD from the ALSO RAN
I’m with Julie when it comes to the question of “how does a product perform throughout the day”. Blotting sheets are great but at this age when your face is so shiny people think you’re sweating… it’s often mistaken for hot flashes. Not Good At All.
I’m a fan of many Hourglass products, I’m just a complete doubting thomasina when it comes to products which claim to be mattifying. This is based on years and years of first hand experience as a super oily girl.
In the winter I am T zone oily in the sping/summer I am super oily. I feel your ‘pain’! This goes in matte and powdery, not dry/pasty.I agree that oil free doesn’t mean much when oily. In fact using too many oil free products can just make the skin politer as it needs oils naturally. That said, nothing keeps oily skin perfectly matte for say 10 hours. Unless maybe paste! So those of us with oily skin must use additional measures like a powder, blot papers etc to do the best we can to keep looking matte. I liked this because my skin didn’t look dull and it looked matte for several hours. But these are my results and everyone is different. If you live near a Sephora, maybe get a sample and see what your results are.
This foundation does everything it says it does, mattifies, stays matte for six hours easily. Don’t doubt it. Try it.
Oh, no one mentioned the two anti-aging ingredients. Phytostem Eidelweiss is an antioxidant that reduces wrinkle depth and protects collagen. Lavandox relaxes expression lines.
@ Karen Stauss,I just turned 50 and I am still super oily also. Two products that really help:Clean and Clear Blotting Film and Cosmedicine Medi Matte, their SPF 30 product. It is so mattifying that I have to mix it with 1/2 gel moisturizer!!
