“I wanted to create a collection for the woman who is sexy yet romantic. Pretty Naughty is very pastel, but also a little naughty in a gentle, discreet way.” Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director, Estée Lauder
The new Estee Lauder Spring 2013 Collection, Pretty Naughty, takes the classic spring pastel shades of pinks, blues and lavenders and sexes them up a bit with a bit of vibrancy and smokiness.
The eye shadow palette consists of 5 shades – a soft pink, sea blue, medium golden brown that has some slight shimmer, a dusty purple and a dark charcoal with some shimmer. Typically, I personally have a difficult time wearing some pastel shades, but I like how Tom Pecheux has “naughtied” these pastels up. The pink and blue are pretty straight-forward shades, but the the purple is smoked up slightly and mixed with the golden brown and charcoal it makes the palette more versatile from a typical pastel palette, and that’s why I think it takes this palette to a wearable one for women over 40. It takes us out of the 80′s (and we really don’t need to go back there) by infusing and toning down the pastels with the neutral shades. Along with the palette there is a duo eye liner – one side black and the end a light blue.
The Illuminating Powder Gelée Blush is in a shade called Tease. It’s a shade that looks more intense in the palette than what it applies on the face. It is a light-medium pink shade that has a soft shimmer to it. They’ve been doing this dimensional pattern to their blushes and bronzers for a few seasons now and I like how that raised pattern works when picking up the product on a brush. You don’t get flat out product on the brush, but different levels of product and it makes it easier to blend on the cheeks.
Tom Pecheux also created these 4 new shades of Pure Color Sheer Matte Lipsticks.
From top to bottom the shades are: Demure, Rock Candy, Rebel and Naked. Personally, I don’t think these are very sheer – to me they are more creamy in texture and the color and the shades can pack quite the pop of vibrant color. I really like the formula and how they apply. The thin sticks slide on easily and the shape of the stick – not too thick or thin, makes them easy to use. For matte, these don’t go on as a dull and lifeless like a typical matte can. These have a bit of dimension to the color so they aren’t as flat as what we think of when using a matte lipstick.
Estee Lauder has added new shades to the Pure Color Nail Collection. Shown above is L-R Dilettante, Insatiable and Narcissist. These are fun shades for spring and I like how the color applies and wears.
The shade Insatiable (far right on sample) is part of the Spring 2013 Collection Pretty Naught and is limited edition. It’s a smoked out or grayed purple shade that I can see myself wearing year-round. The other two shades are new additions to the regular line and will be available at all locations.
The Spring 2013 Collection, Pretty Naughty, is available beginning this month exclusively on EsteeLauder.com, although as I write this today it is still not shown online.
