After my week-long hiatus from blogging I’m back to talk summer. With Memorial Day past, we have unofficially hit summer and I’m determined to enjoy it and not let life pass me by. So to start off my summer I’m going camping with one of my sisters this coming weekend! I used to camp all the time as a kid growing up and while I don’t do it as often as a couple of my sisters, I do enjoy getting out and being one with nature. But does that mean that beauty has to suffer too?
Granted, there really is no point in being high maintenance while camping, but there are a few products that I find to be my camping beauty must-haves.
Wisp – Don’t bother with the electric or a big toothbrush and toothpaste – these portable mini toothbrushes have a pick on one end and on the mini brush head there is a bead of toothpaste built right in. Freshen your teeth and breath in a swift minute.
Sunscreen – Not just a beauty product but a health product, too. I like this Aveeno HydroSport because lets face it, when camping you aren’t always cool and you don’t want your sunscreen sweating off. Also a quick dip in the lake can take sunscreen off so being able to quickly spray it back on is a plus. A great way to keep skin cancer and sun damage at bay.
Avon Skin So Soft – Bug bites, Lymes Disease and red, swollen, itchy skin are just not pretty (or healthy) and no one wants to smell like a walking chemical so I’ll be using this bug repellent. Known for smelling good and working, I’m sure to protect my sensitive skin while in the woods.
Kenra Dry Shampoo – If only camping a few days there really is no need to wash your hair, but you also don’t want it to be a greasy mess. A few sprays of the Kenra Platinum Dry Shampoo will absorb oil and keep it looking fresh. Just spray, rub it in, comb your hair and you’re ready to go.
Goody Hair Elastics – I do not want to be messing with styling hair while camping, so I’ll be wearing it in a ponytail with one of these cute Goody Hair Elastics that I’ve recently discovered. They come in a choice of silver or gold with shiny and brushed finishes within the pack. And so you never misplace them, they can be worn around the wrist as a cute bracelet. Clever!
Shhh – I recently met Becky, the creator of StormSister Shhh – Shampoo, Shower, Shave. She came up with this brilliant bar that is perfect for travel (and camping). Free of harmful chemicals and packaged in 100% compostable and recyclable packaging, this bar does it all while smelling good, making your skin soft, cleaning your hair and making shaving your legs easy and oh-so convenient! The bar also comes in a 1.5 oz cube that is perfect for taking with you on a weekend away.
Aveeno Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF 15 – We think about our skin getting sunburns and sun damage, but we oftentimes forget about our lips. They need protection from the sun as well and this Aveeno Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner keeps them soft with jojoba oil and shea butter and protects them from the sun with SPF 15.
Now I’m ready to sit back by the fire with a cocktail in hand and enjoy mother nature.

Love the practical ‘beauty’ stuff. Avon’s Skin So Soft is a winner!
THRILLED you liked shhh!
I’ll be bringing it with me camping this weekend!
