Doesn’t Aerin Lauder look lovely in this image? She always has an uncomplicated classic chic look. Which is why when she came out with her eponymous beauty line you just knew it would be simple, classic pieces that would never scream “look at me!”, but instead a hint of soft color in shades that leave you looking simply beautiful and fresh. The AERIN Spring 2013 Collection is the first of her beauty line that I’ve seen in person and I am not disappointed.
“When I think of Spring, I immediately think of flowers. I’ve created a collection that is bright and pretty, mixing floral patterns with a vibrant, pink palette.” – Aerin Lauder, Founder and Creative Director, AERIN
The Spring 2013 Collection comes with two face palettes, each in their own zipped compact that has a floral printed canvas fabric on the outside. I believe she is also doing a fabric line in the future, which of course always interests me and the design business. It has me wondering if this print is a hint of what those fabrics may look like.
Above is shown the palette, A Garden in Dusk – trio of eye shadows and a large blush. This palette is more neutral and fresh-faced looking of the two. The blush is a warm rose that leans more towards a soft bronze shade called Nectar. The eye shadow trio consists of shades in soft pink in matte, a medium blue that has a hint of grey in it and a shimmer texture and the darkest shade is a blue with quite a bit of purple in it which is a satin finish. The shades are named Iris, Lily, Dahlia.
The other palette, A Garden in Bloom, is encased in an identical zip compact and these shades are a bit more bright and lightly fresh rather than neutral. The blush is a bright pink shade called Blossom, and the eye shadow trio is a soft pink shimmer, a light soft taupe with a mauve undertone in a matte finish and a deep grey/periwinkle shade that is in a satin/matte finish. These shades are named Peony, Hyacinth and Dusk.
The Floral Illuminating Powder is gorgeous and intricately detailed and colored with 6 soft pastel shades that can be blended onto the face to brighten and illuminate. It even has a light rose scent. The gold toned compacts have a textured top that reminds me of a piece of wood that has been gold leafed.
The Kabuki Brush works beautifully with the powder blushes and Illuminating Powder. It is incredibly soft!
There are two shades of the Cream Lips and Cheek Colors. These are not heavy in pigment, but offer a softness to the face. The top shade is Sweet Pea, the bottom shade is Freesia.
The trio of lipsticks are in varying pink toned shades L-R Camellia, Garden Path and Tulip
There are also three new lip gloss shades, again in varying pink tones. The shades L-R are: Cassis, Poppy and Pink Rose. The Limited Edition collection is available February at EsteeLauder.com Aerin.com and select retailers.
Here are a few images taken from my camera of some of the collection.

This collection does not disappoint. Unfortunately there isn’t a retailer near me that carries the line, so I will definitely be adding the AERIN Essential line to my must-see beauty next time I’m in NYC.
Product was received for consideration of review. All opinions are my own.

Lovely colors, but I don’t imagine they will show up very well on women with darker skin tones. I like that the line seems carefully ‘edited’ to simple but elegant color stories and the packaging is beautiful.
Will you be swatching what you have? I’m always curious to see how things look on skin since that can change so much from how they look in the package.
I would say the colors could work with skin that is up to medium, medium/dark.
I can do that. Look for the, in the next couple of days.
It’s funny how everyone is going nuts for this collection, to me it’s just boring and we’ve seen it all before from Clinique or Bobbi Brown. Maybe I’m not her target audience eh?
