How to know when to break up with your hair stylist or colorist
Getting your hair cut and/or colored should be something you look forward to doing. Whether it’s getting your roots touched up or a completely new color, a bang trim to a totally new style, going to the salon should leave you rejuvenated and feeling better about yourself than before you sat down in the chair. If you constantly walk away unsatisfied after you leave the salon, then it’s time to consider getting a new stylist or colorist.
Fab Over 40 went to the hair experts at Haus Salon and asked them what are signs we should be looking for when we need to move on. Here are seven signs you need a new stylist or colorist:
-
If you want a change and your stylist talks you out of it/you feel like you’re not being heard.
-
You’re not getting compliments on your hair anymore.
-
You’re hair is getting more and more damaged. Over processed/over bleached
-
Your stylist could do your hair with their eyes closed.
-
Your hair and skin are the same color/tone.
-
If your stylist is more afraid of change than you are.
-
Your colorist is still using a cap over your head to pull out highlights
Have any of these happened to you? If so, maybe next time it’s time to consider a change for the better.

My stylist still uses a cap and I love the results. She can do foils but the cap is quicker and therefore, cheaper…a big plus when on SS!! But,I’d pay more if the results weren’t there with the cap.
