I’m taking advantage of my time off from work this week to see a few movies. Today I saw “It’s Complicated” and whether you’re married, divorced, both or neither, it’s a great movie to see.
In the beginning, Meryl Streep’s character decides to visit her doctor to discuss her ever sagging eye lids which at times is causing her difficulty in seeing. When the doctor describes to her what the procedure to correct it involves, she goes running out of the office. There’s no way she’s having any of it! For some reason, I have a feeling that was probably a scene that could have taken place in her real life as well.
At 60, Meryl looks simply fabulous! Without any work being done to her face she’s an actress that looks real. In this movie she shows hesitation and trepidation of her looks, but in the end is very satisfied with herself and her life.
Maybe if more women in Hollywood followed Meryl’s footsteps and took the no surgery route, we could believe them as actresses and we could enjoy the realism in the expressions of their faces. Meryl, you are fabulous!
That eyelid operation – Rosalynn Carter had it – is the ONLY plastic surgery I’m going to have and ONLY if I ever need it. IMO, being able to see clearly is a NECESSITY.

I read your post about MS the other day and kept it in mind when I went to see It’s complicated yesterday. I was blown away by Meryl’s beauty and vibrancy.
It was fabulous to see a woman a portrayed so desirably well over 50. I think what came through was how comfortable she is in her own skin. I learned something yesterday…the best trick to looking younger is a pretty smile and lots of laughter.
All those trophy wives just make their husbands look silly!
