Burberry Fall 2011 Collection was created to enhance the NUDE LOOK that was used by Christopher Bailey on the Burberry runway. His intentions are to let a woman’s natural beauty show through.
As I’ve mentioned before, Burberry is not widely available and I have found a friend in Kristy at the Westfield San Francisco Center Nordstrom. If you ever have any questions about the line, she is THE expert.
Their new Fall 2011 Collection is not a large collection, which I like, because it’s a very thoughtfully edited one indeed. The colors are muted, soft and earthy – very wearable for any woman over 40. I purchased a few items – the #21 Midnight Brown eye shadow to go with my existing Gold Trench shade. It’s a soft green/gold/brown shade with a very slight hint of shimmer. I also purchased the existing shade of #19 Midnight Plum and #14 Lavender to add to my collection. Shown swatched below L-R are Midnight Plum, Midnight Brown and Lavender.
A few other items I added were the #05 Midnight Plum eye liner, but the #06 Golden Brown is the new one for the Fall Collection and the #25 Nude Rose lipstick. A lip color that suits me perfectly for a polished lip.
There are some colored mascaras and blushes added to the line, but Kristy told me the star product in the Fall Collection is the Fresh Glow Luminous Base. I almost passed on this – I already have a primer that I love, but she convinced me to give it a try and I’m glad she did.
One of the biggest comments I hear from women is that they feel their skin has lost its glow. This is a lightweight moisturizing primer that adds a beautiful luminous glow. When doing nude or natural looking makeup, having a flawless canvas becomes even more important. This primer helps to achieve that flawless face look.
Here it is on my hand not blended in completely, but I wanted to show you the texture and glow.
As I’ve mentioned before, Burberry is an exquisite line that even if you can’t afford several pieces from the line, possibly you can add one or two to your existing makeup collection. It will be a beautiful addition no matter what you choose.

thx for this. do the burberry eyeshadows look smooth on older eye lids? or maybe i should avoid light shimmer colors…maybe it is those types that make my eyelids looks wrinkly/not smooth? thx again!
These look beautiful on “older lids”. They are a very silky powder and not high shimmer at all if that is what you are worried about. Very, very light shimmer – almost undetectable.
Midnight Brown is the most beautiful shadow I own. The plum looks great. I might have to try it too. I definitely have older lids and I’d tell anyone to go for it. Burberry has such smooth, silky shadows.
How do you like the eyeliners? I found the plum one more reddish plum not purplish plum, how are you planning to use it?
I love their liners – find that they are very creamy and easy to use. I was just going to compare it color-wise to another plum one I own, and can’t find it! I must have left my Burberry liner at the hotel in Montreal. I’m quite bummed!
