This week, Beauty on a Budget is a comparison to a favorite department store line and a newer product from one of my all-time favorite budget beauty lines.
Today’s product is Sonia Kashuk Hydrating Lip Balm. This cute little tube of lip balm is more like a non sticky, sheer lip gloss with a pop of color.
When I hear the word balm, I think thick, hard, difficult to apply, and this certainly is not. It’s in a cute little squeeze tube with an angle tip applicator and contains SPF 14 – oh so important, especially in these summer months. Perfect size for fitting in a small bag, or even your pocket. I compare these to Bobbi Brown Lip Tint with SPF 15. Bobbi’s retail for $17, and may be a slightly bigger tube than Sonia’s. However, this Bobbi one is larger than the Sonia one, and smaller than Bobbi’s little 4-pack mini glosses – somewhere in between. Very comparable is the sheer colors and textures. Although Bobbi’s may have more color selection, you decide if it’s worth saving about $10.
One not so great thing about the Sonia gloss is the fact that it is not at all Target stores. I live by a very busy Super Target and surprisingly they don’t have these. Yet, as I was driving out of town to visit my family which is near a much smaller Target and smaller town, it is there that I discovered these great glosses. Go figure. You may have to do a little searching to find them, but they’re worth it.
